I have a favor to ask of the Steubenville Big Red Boosters Club, of which I am a proud member. I would like to fly in for the Massillon game but I don’t want to drive to Massillon from Steubenville. Can I reserve a seat on the boosters’ bus now? If I can’t be assured of getting a seat on the bus, then I’m not going to make the trip. I already plan to fly in for the DC Wilson and Benedictine games. These trips will cost me a lot of money and I want to be as accommodated as best I can. Also, I need to make plane and motel reservations as soon as possible.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me.
Listen you GD SOB, there are very few flights in and out of Canton/Akron that I can take. Most of the available seats are already full. And when I tried to get a seat on the bus to Massillon two years ago, I was turned down. I finally got a call the day before the game telling me I had a seat.
As far as you're concerned, just do everybody a favor and shut your damn mouth.

your the goof that wants to fly in but land 2 or 3 hours from your intended goal, hell fly in to Cleveland 1 hr 20 minute drive, Pittsburgh 1 hour 45 minutes by car. but you choose to land and get on a bus full of river rats for a 2 hr pilgrimage to the holy land. piss off, .

Notice, my fellow Big Red fans, that he has called us river rats.

Are you still in Seattle? There are oodles of flights from Seattle to CAK on Thursday night/Friday morning that will get you there in plenty of time for the game. You can rent a car for less than $20/day and drive from the airport to the game.
What in the hell is going on here? I asked a simple honest question and expected a simple honest answer. The flights that go into Canton/Akron are already full. And even if they weren't, I would still prefer to fly into Pittsburgh and drive to Steubenville and then take a bus from there. I really don't want to drive in Massillon.
There seems to be a special list of people who are entitled to take the boosters' bus. I didn't get on it until the day before the Massillon game two years ago. I wanted to save myself some trouble this year by getting a reservation early. If anyone can help me, I will be very grateful.
For those of you who have been patient with me, I thank you.

Absolutely untrue. At the time of my post, there were multiple flights available from Seattle to CAK on Thursday night/Friday morning which would put you at the airport 3-9 hours before kickoff. Prices started at $149 O/W.

Two scenarios:
- Fly to Pittsburgh, drive 25 miles to Steubenville, sit several hours on a round trip bus with a bunch of farting, belching, drinking yahoos who are going to be drunk and pissed off on the ride home, then drive back to Pittsburgh.
- Fly to CAK with an afternoon arrival, catch lunch and a beer at Great Lakes, pick up your $20 rental, drive 15 miles to PBTS, and arrive in time to tailgate and soak it all in with complete control over your evening.
And you chose which one?

I'm sorry, dude, but you've been given very good advice and chosen to ignore it for what seem like very silly and -- dare I say it -- cowardly reasons. (You don't want to drive in Massillon? Really?)
To be blunt, you sound very high maintenance. Good luck with your search.

The only thing you said that made sense was the tailgating. I have often wanted to meet the Massillon folks who grace these blogs.
I have checked and there don't appear to be any flights that would work for me. The best flight is the one that leaves Seattle at 6:30 am and arrives at CAK around 3:30. If II could get that flight, I would probably take it.
Regarding the Booster Bus(es)...most people on the bus are the same ones that go on the bus to every away game, so they are going to get first dibs on seats. If someone cancels then there is a seat opened up.
Oil Filter, this is the Booster Bus, so there is no drinking or rowdy behavior going on. Most are too old to drive, much less party.

1. you have nothing to add after you made a good suggestion at first. We heard the suggestion, it was good until you tried to completely derail this thread with the followups, like he is at Gitmo.
2. there could be dozens of reasons why he would prefer to fly into Pgh. None of which are relevant here, nor does he have to explain it to you.
3. cowardly? hahahaha
4. not your business
5. why do you care?
6. not your business
Anyone with any friends would prefer what he prefers instead of being a loner and going into CAK. No offense, but even a simple question brings out the demeaning comments. I just don't know why, because it is apparent that you are an intelligent person.
I respect the passion you have for the Big Red program but flying in from Seattle seems a little extreme. Save yourself a lot of hassle, kick back and listen to the "stream".
I do understand the passion. My mother is 91 and a 1938 Big Red grad and band member. Me being a Mooney grad doesnt faze her in the least, she still bleeds red and black and follows every game Big Red plays. I still hear the stories of the trips she took to Tiger Stadium back in the day with the band and later with fellow Big Red alum and friends.
It's a strange thing, so I understand when outsiders think we are crazy.
Every season I see people that I know who have moved away back at games. I guess the thinking is that if there is any good time to come back to visit, it is during a Big Red game.

I don't just fly in to see Big Red play, although that is the primary reason. The day after the Woodrow Wilson game, I'm driving up to Cleveland to visit my college roommate and his wife and daughter. We're going to see his high school play on Friday night and see the big double-header in Browns Stadium on Saturday. I haven't seen these people in ten years.
The day after the Benedictine game, I plan to drive to Kent State to see their football game with an old girlfriend whom I haven't seen in 30 years.
On the way back to Seattle, I plan to go by way of Houston. I will have a two-hour stopover. I will eat lunch with some friends I haven't seen in ten years.
So you see, I'm not just making this trip to see Big Red play, although if it weren't for Big Red football, I wouldn't make the trip.
P.S. This is in addition to my trip home to see Massillon.
Sounds like fun to me. It's always good to hook up with old friends. Will your old gal pal believe you when you tell her she hasnt changed in 30 years? Just kidding FW.

I've gained eighty pounds since I saw her last. Trust me, nobody's going to care what she looks like.

I have traveled throughout the United States, Europe, South America, Australia, and New Zealand either as a professional figure skater or as a singer. Travel means nothing to me. I really don't like driving, but I do when I have to. Flying from Seattle to Steubenville is easy.
I'm looking forward to seeing Big Red play. I should also say that I am writing a book about Steubenville and I need to research it in the Carnegie Library and the Jefferson County Historical Association Museum. I'll spend most of my time there.
