Any of these team's players getting any scholarship offers in the offseason?
Central Catholic's QB Deshone Kizer ('14), TE Keith Towbridge ('13), and DB Jayme Thompson ('13) all have been getting BCS scholarships lately.
Thompson has already committed to West Virginia, but just yesterday received an offer from Urban Meyer and Ohio State. Sneaky little Meyer isn't he.
Also, did that #3 from Avon last year go anywhere for college ball? That kid had talent.
Who offered to Deshone? IMO he's the reason I think Central may seriously contend for a D2 state title the next few years. His improvement throughout the season was incredible and he was making excellent reads and throws in both playoff games last season. This season I expect him to be a dominant QB, especially with such a great target in Keith.
Btw who the heck said they'd struggle to get #1 because of a weak schedule? Perrysburg in the non-con and a loaded TRAC will present plenty of options for points. SJJ, Ross, Whitmer and Findlay are all playoff contenders in D1

I think they poster who mentioned TCC's schedule said they are the favorites to win the region, even though their STRONG schedule may keep them from being the #1 playoff seed (i.e. they might lose a couple games to some very good TRAC teams, while a team with a weaker schedule might go 10-0 and be the #1 seed in the playoffs).

Kizer has received offers from Toledo and Bowling Green. Just recently, he received his first BCS offer, with Syracuse offering him a scholly. I can't wait to see him reel in scholarship after scholarship with his improvement along the way.

Yeah I think he'll receive offers from people a little bigger than UT and BG

So far the biggest news is Todd Filtz leaving as coach of Maple Heights and Devlin Culliver taking over. In my opinion, Culliver is a mediocre coach and Maple is going to slide...regardless of the talent level of players that return.

Don't recall you ever playing "rate the coach," certainly not before given a chance.
Seems like Shaw was competitive the last few years bouncing back and forth D1, D2, not so much before.

He wasn't the head coach at Shaw. Culliver coached at Warrensville Heights, and had a losing record. He coached at Painesville Harvey, and had a losing record. He had a relatively weak schedule, and a lot of talent, at Harvey...but he never could turn the corner. He even had current Ohio State WR Chris Fields on his Harvey teams, but still could not beat any remotely decent team on the schedule. If Culliver does well at Maple, it will be a surprise to me...and to many in NEO.
who are the sleeper teams in the region? The little giants could make some noise if they qualify for the playoffs and the truckers had a great season last year but came up a little short. Midview has a gunslinger for a qb and will be exciting to watch.

The people in Richland County say that Mansfield Madison looks really good for 2012. They supposedly return a lot of starters and they are one of the favorites to win the Ohio Cardinal Conference. I know their coach (Maltarich) did really well at Norwayne, and comes from a highly respected coaching family, so I have to believe that he can do some damage with an experienced team that won a lot of games in 2011.

Maltarich is not at Madison. He resigned after 1 season (2010) to return home and take over at West Holmes. Sean Conway (former Ashland Crestview coach) took over the helm at Madison last year.

Thanks for that info! Didn't realize Maltarich left so soon. Ashland Crestview is a solid program, so I assume Conway can coach. Madison certainly did well under him last year. Don't be a stranger! We have posters with a lot of insight about the teams in the Cleveland area, Sandusky area and the Toledo area. We always seem to be short on information about the Richland County schools in R6.
Your right Madison should have a very good team this year. However I won't say they are going to for sure we will have to wait and see. I do think there better then last year. They have a better all around qb and they have a senioR class with great attitude and leader . They have a big line this year . They have been hitting the weight room hard . I believe they could easily be top 8 in the region I even believe they could host a game
Keep checking in, Old Fart. R6 talk should be heating up soon, and your Mansfield area and OCC knowledge will be much appreciated. That area has always been a bit of a blind spot in the R6 threads.
R6 looks to have TWO legitimate chances at the TRAC championship, with Fremont joining the mix. Rogers did a smart thing (I think) grabbing OOC away from the area but even if they win their OOC and their league, I don't think they'll get enough points off those teams. I don't think they'll make top 8 but hope they can sneak in.
My contacts at Maple are telling me "rebuilding year", though they have some solid talent and a lot of the Rotsky-Filtz coaching staff is still around.
The region looks to be a lot tougher, as far as the ability to make the top eight, than it was the past two seasons. The Avon suspensions (for the Avon Lake game and the Week Two against Wellington) may wind up costing a playoff spot if they lose to Midview in Week 8. Same with Midview if they lose to Elyria this week. I'm not sure 8-2 will be good enough this year, since Avon and Midview won't get much Harbin help from their league. A win over Avon Lake was worth a ton of L2's for Avon the past two years, and gave a margin for error. Not so this season.
I'm not ready to get my head around Bedford, MI having a potent enough offense to hang over 20 on an R6 region leader so, maybe Central Catholic has an achilles? Week 5 (Findlay at home) is going to be explosive, one of the top games in the state.

Yes, TCC has a weak spot, and teams like Avon and Midview could be very dangerous first round foes for TCC if they go in as 7 or 8 seeds. Norwalk is another with a prolific passing attack. TCC seems vulnerable over the top. Their advantage this year is they have the offensive firepower to win shootouts.
Norwalk won't be in the playoffs. They got to beat tiffin and bellevue. They might not even beat Sandusky or lakewood
Ah, the all knowing has spoken!!!! If I'm not mistaken I believe it was you that was doubting the legitimacy of Norwalk's undefeated, regional qualifying basketball team last season?
