James Naismith didn't go to Alter. But Labron James last high school game was against Alter.

You beat me to the punch, BH.

I was gonna post the same thing.

I wonder if the basketball still had laces when Petro was in high school?

Could of fooled me about Naismith not going to Alter. Listening to the Alter gang recount how many districts they have won, or D2 state titles or how they are going to be good every year.....I just would have thought the game was invented on David Rd. in Kettering.

Not hearing alot of "humble" in the Jesuit tradition coming from this gang.

There's alot of unhumble behavior by other denominations of Christians here on Yappi. Why single out the Jesuits?

Not as far as I know, but I could be wrong. Alter is run by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and not the Jesuits. St. Xavier might be a Jesuit school, however. Yappsters, feel free to correct me, if I am wrong.

I didn't necessarily mean it literally. Didn't mean to literally Jesuit or Franciscan or Marian. Just trying to make a point about being "good winners."

The folks at Alter didn't invent basketball and we can all read the newspapers to know they win allot of athletic contests....they really don't need to be so pious about it, rubbing everyone's nose in it, bragging about how much better their kids are, athletes are, system is, etc.......

Their mission statement mentions a "Christ centered environment." School pride is fine......too much pride is not.

Hoopsdude, I think we are all confused by saying "all these Alter people are self righteous and not humble". Who/what are you referring to? I very rarely see any Alter posters on here, so I am confused by your accusation of them pounding their chests?

Like their chances

With the staff Alter has, I look for them to have a slow start with the football players getting adjusted, then being pretty solid at the end of the year. Some great people and basketball minds on their staff to hold them together until next year when they can make a nice run.

Kind of a wild thought, but I know Dan Christie (ex PG for the UD Flyers) has two daughters playing basketball for Alter and they are both very good. But, I also thought he had a younger son, who should be about a Freshman by now. Does he go to Alter? Does he even play hoops? If so, is he good, like his dad and sisters? Or am I dreaming this all up? Is there even a Christie boy? Anybody know anything?

You are right, Christie has 2 daughters playing basketball at Alter. I have no idea how old his son is, but I believe Dan is involved in the feeder program for Alter. Not sure how good the boy is, or even how good of a coach he is.

I think I'm accurate on this. Dan Christie does have a son who is a freshman this year at Alter. I don't know if he is on the team or not, but he was a point guard when I saw him play. Somewhat on the smallish side, but that didn't seem to matter. He can pass, play defense, and has a nice three point shot. However, I do not remember seeing him play last summer in the Centerville summer league for incoming freshman, although I did see Dan Christie at a couple of games.

Just found out from someone that this kid is actually repeating 8th grade. That he is very short and skinny and not very good. He is DEFINITELY not at Alter.

Kevin Christie is an 8th grader at The Miami Valley School.

Dan Christies son is an 8th grader and when he comes to Alter next year will be a good player. He is small, but has a nice shot, speed and great ball skills. Alter has many good freshmen this year, they will not contribute to Varsity this year (other then possibly Jay - the point guard), but it does show that the future will continue to have talent. We have Malik Zaire who is fast and good ball skills, Greg Hart tall and very strong, Kyle Shockman nice shot, Michael Spencer fast and good ball skills. Hopefully Alter will stay strong for many years to come.

Don't look for Kevin Christie at Alter. He is locked and loaded at The Miami Valley School for the duration. Big things are happening at MVS and he is a big part of it. At Alter he would not be a factor until his Junior or Senior years.

Coaches Posting

I have a question maybe someone on here can answer. If AN ALTER coach wants to read YAPPI that is fine, but should he really be on here responding.Just wondering how all you from the mighty ALTER feel about that Bush league if you ask me
