team race

I hear Miamisburg is way down this year, no Heavyweights, questonable lightweights, and decent middle-weights, only because Fayette is there. But you cant build a championship team with one good guy!

Springboro looks tough, and maybe a few move ins? Though will Root run everyone off with high "travel" fees and terrible assisitant coaches? Time will tell.

Centerville appears to be the front-runner, Miller, Mauro, Kelley, Rose, etc will be the team to beat. Question, will Mauro actually finish the season? Will Miller make it down to weight? Will Bair run off half the team?

Northmont, not

Lebanon, not

Beavercreek, always a contender.

Looks to be an exciting year!

I don't see any advantage to 215 and heavy over 189 and 215.

189 might be the weakest weight class in the state behind 285. At 215, Rose looks to be the 3rd best wrestler. Rose going heavy would present a lot of unknowns.

Team GWOC Predictions (with notable wrestlers)
1 - Centerville - (Mauro, Waterhouse, Kinder, Kelley, Menker, Mathews, Carman, Lovely, Miller, Rose) - best dual team by far

2 - Springboro - (Thoman, Shivener, Riegle, D'urso, Freed, Walker, Ramsey) - not enough depth, but return 4 qualifiers

3 - Miamisburg - (Fayette, Regan, Everhart, Williamson, Miskel?, Ewing) - not sure about them but you can't argue with WW.

4 - Fairmont - (Sage, Sage, Denlinger, Kimbrell, good freshmen class) - plus Beavercreek lost everyone, Northmont had a few guys but less than KF, and the rest of the teams really don't have much going. I don't know much about Lebanon so I guess Sidney might be your #5? who cares. I probably forgot some notable wrestlers.

Terrible assistant coaches? We qualified for the State Duals. We qualified four to state and return eight district qualifiers.

I think we have one of the best coaching staffs in the area. Ryan, his father, and his brother Rob did a great job last season. I heard we picked up Ryan's other brother Richie, as well as Jason Lindeman, Scott Franz, and an out of stater.

We support Coach Roots schedule. He had our boys ready at years end. As for travel fees we were fund raising this summer to help eliminate them. Whatever the cost, it is worth it to be part of that program. It is not his fault that we didn't pass our levy. I would rather wrestle for a program that will travel and get the exposure that our boys get.

After watching the Mason/Centerville football game, I wondered to myself about this dilema that Centerville has. Both kids looked to be about 230-235, and if this is the case this is a problem for the wrestling team. That is alot of weight for Miller to cut to get to 189, and Rose although has a bigger frame, he would almost be considered a small heavyweight. It is a weak weight class at Heavy, but could Rose match up with the much bigger kid in Buzzelli at the State Level. I guess the question is why can Miller wrestle any weight he wants, but it is Rose that has to go up a weight class? If both weigh about the same right now, what are the Centerville coaches going to do?

I don't remember a time in history where Bair ran off half of the team.

Is this true? All that fuss over this kid wanting to wrestle during the "cookie caper" and now the kid quits wrestling? If I were his mother I would make the kid wrestle after paying all the lawyer fees so he could participate in the District Tournament. Shows how important wrestling really was to the kid if this is indeed true?

Here is the deal. Rose beats Miller. Rose is going 215. Therefore Miller is going 189. He is the same size this football season as he was going into his Junior year of wrestling. There is no dilemma.

Sometimes it's more about what is important to the parents. Still, there is over a month until practice starts so we will see come November what he plans to do.

So are saying that they are going to have to wrestle off for 215? That's is a dilema for the coaching staff when you're two best wrestlers and the major point scorers for your team are going to have to wrestle off for a position. Let me know when the wrestle offs are, because I would love to make a trip to Centerville to see that one. I am not sure Rose would beat Miller, but it would be fun to watch.

How did I say that? They will not wrestle off. Miller will be 189. Rose will be 215.

Stick to your lower weights, because you have no clue about anything over 152. Rose already beat Miller last year in a match, so for you to say that is just dumb.

Rose has already beaten miller. Last year at the first tourney of the season they both wrestled 215, and both met in the finals. Rose won. IF Miller wants to take 215, it is not going to be handed to him.

That being said, he will get to 189 eventually. Always does.

Personally I would want to be at 189 if I was Miller. I think It's safe to say if he's there he could be the state favorite. I would consider Busson (Wadsworth) to be the strongest contender to Miller. Remember at 215 you have Tavenello and Weeks sitting there waiting to bring home that 1st place medal. At 189 you have a better chance, so Miller will be just fine right there!

* Should a guy or two from 171 move into 189 that would make it much tougher for Miller.
Michael Alexander, Cory Hayes, Cody Lamberg ??? We will just have to wait and see if any make the jump.

I would expect one of these three to make the jump eventually.

I am not sure if Lamberg will be down at D-2 this year or not. However, Hayes did beat Lamberg last year in the semis at state, so i am not sure about Lamberg being the only one he would have to worry about.

I meant that I think Lamberg was the biggest of the three, and most likely to move up, but any of the three could make a serious impact.

I'm curious about this too. If that court case is still going he could still have to sit out a meet.

Wineberg and Wise will have their kids ready to go as they always do, even on a down year. If anyone thinks someone is going to run away with the GWOC title without Miamisburg and Beavercreek having something to say about it, then you are just kidding yourself.

Not possitive if he is wrestling or even allowed, but Josh Stevens(originally Carroll) is now at Beavercreek if my memory serves me correctly. So if he does wrestle, he can be a force.
