Who actually makes this call? Stats are only part of the puzzle. This is also typically a popularity contest. Is it someone who stacks the stats? Someone who is on a great team with great supporting players. Someone who takes a team farther than they should have. This is a tough call and there are many who I saw(buckeye, scarlet) that deserve it.
Buckeye looks like either the Kuramotos or Jeff Michael from Milford have a pretty good shot. Probably whichever players' team wins the conference would get it. The cardinal has jacob spirk as a clear stats leader, but Wilmington hasn't been successful and plays a weak schedule- so maybe a turpin player takes it. Scarlet should probably be whoever Ross's best player is.
Andy George is by far the best player in the favc and will most likely be all state and will be playing at a top D1 soccer program. He is the best and you cant deny it. He is a college boy!

It's sad that it almost always goes to an offensive player because I have seen some outstanding defensive play this season.
Cardinal - Gates or Hovder
Buckeye - Kuramotos
Scarlet - Keller or Oliver

Hmmmmmm, I think I know who you are. with this post........ Scarlet could be interesting.........
Milford was awarded the player of the year in 2008 so this year it will go to another school ..... unless there is an obvious winner this award is a political event ..... looks like Loveland gets it this year ..
On a more serious note, SoccerDad2006 couldn't have said it better. "The Poy is not the best player on a championship team. It's the best player within the league, who had the biggest impact to his team." Each coach knows who these kids are, know these individuals, and know there All Around work ethic, leadership & skills on & off the field, and the peers/team mates know as well.
It must be known, as Alec Gates was announced as the FAVC Cardinal POY last night. Others announced on first team, Joe Hovde, Tim O Neil, Mike Petitgout, Alex Williams, Matt Moliterno and second team were Mark Gierl and Connor Uhl from Turpin.
Have not seen this posted anywhere, but as I said it was announed last night at their awards banquet
