Week 2: Struthers (2-0) @ Niles McKinley (0-2)

The cats are coming off a really tough win last night vs crestview. A couple of guys are banged up. The cats will need to clean it up big time to win this game. Niles is our kryptonite the last couple of years.

Niles comes off a big loss vs Poland. They seem to be able to sling it around a little bit, but struggle vs the run. Niles has really good receivers that can give the cats trouble. Niles has beat struthers two years in a row despite finishing much worse in the standings.

I think niles could pull off the upset , depending on how the bad the injuries are for the cats . Also niles passing game always give the cats problem . The db better be ready or they will be in for a long game. I will make my prediction when I find out how bad the injuries are .

Struthers has no problem with this game and next week's either, then the hype stops in weeks #5 & #6. The first 4 weeks are very soft on the Cats schedule.

I wouldn't be surprised if Struthers ends up 4-2 after 6 weeks of play.

Nice. Talk about this week. One week at a time.

The db's played a lot better in the second half yesterday. Had a few chances at int's before the int in the second half. They will get better. They are young, but talented.

The center for the cats went down with injury, who knows how long that is for. A sophomore stepped in and was ok. Not all state like our center. Just ok.

Mitchell is fine.

The cats had a few chances to put it away earlier last night but did not capitalize. A week of practice should help.

Expect to see a steady dose of 7 this week in Niles.

That'll be fine because there isn't a loss on the schedule after week 6.... the rest of the way should be fairly easy. Lakeview and Hubbard arnt as strong as last year at all. Not many schools will touch Canfield this season they are playing lights out. Poland is a toss up rivalry game. Hubbards first 2 are just as easy then struthers tho, Bum Pittsburgh city school, liberty is better then, girard and crestview would be a good game.

One week at a time. For the record the cats have great chances against everyone they play.

Niles first. Jefferson second

Spread All Day 09-02-17 02:01 PM

For the record everyone said this last year after the cats lost to niles too.

Look how that turned out. Cats haven't lost a regular season game since.

I knew that can't change it.

Someone change this!!!

Thought he was talking about the week we played niles last season and lost. Fair enough.

mother_goose 09-03-17 06:52 PM

It doesn't anymore. Good luck to your 'Cats.

There are bigger games on the schedule later on in the season... Canfield, Poland, Hubbard... but can't complain too much about being GOTW.

I believe this will also be the GOTW on 570.
Anyone else not a fan of the changes that were made to the scoreboard show?

How'd everything go on WKTL the other night? Who did play by play and color?

kingpin2010 09-03-17 11:59 PM

They really didn't have much of a choice this week because they always want to show 2 local teams, and the good matchups this week involve out of area teams. Girard-JFK would've certainly got it had it not been on Saturday

Struthersfan 09-04-17 12:42 AM

Not sure exactly how this one plays out.
On paper, it shouldn't even be close.
But it is Niles, who usually plays us tough.

Hope it doesn't take a half to get the offense moving.
Last week was a lot closer than most expected.
Definitely cannot overlook Niles.

We will have to hit some plays trough the air, hall has been able to do so when asked to sonfaf this season, basic td fumbled at the 1 yard line into the end zone killed us, but we recovered. They will put 9 in the box to try and stop mitchell. What's the injury situation?

Not looking good from what I heard, he goes for an MRI tomorrow.

Paladin1aa 09-04-17 12:53 PM

Niles winning would not surprise me

Has nothing to do with it be swollen . His dad wants him to go to see a certain doctor who can't get him in till tomorrow because of the holiday .

You guys should worry about your upcoming game.
Labrae has an awfully good chance to knock you off.
And it wouldn't be an upset.

Niles beating Struthers could happen, but highly unlikely.
Their defense is atrocious.
Cats' O should have a field day.
And our defense is tough to score against, especially on the ground.

Second part is true.

First part is just medically incorrect. Swelling has to be minimal to get an accurate MRI. -

Buckeye Elite 09-04-17 02:22 PM

Typically every year Kuntz gets very one dimensional, because he knows how important the poland and Canfield games are, the last 2 years that hurt us.

Going for 2 I have no problem with right now, it can help or hurt us all year long tho.
