Any ideas why Coach Farquar left? They have a really solid nucleus returning for next year so some coach should walk into a good situation.

Agreed. CHCA will have a pretty good team next season.
I don't know why Farquhar "left". My guess is that it was the schools' decision, and not his.

Farqhuhar has probably gotten some "heat" from a few parents in CHCA land. However, he has consistently won, while at the helm, so perhaps he wanted to look for a new challenge.

I think Farquhar could've done better at CHCA.

CHCA finished last in their part of the MVC last year. I don't think that is consistency, especially with the group he had. The should have been competing for a league title.
I agree they lost a lot of games they should have won. The talent was better than the record. There have to be some good assistant coaches in the mvc that would be a good get for chca

I am surprised, but I think he will land on his feet.

This has the potential to be a top small school job. There are a lot of resources to create something huge at this school if given the time to do it.

From what I understand this was more of a teaching decision than it was a coaching decision. I am sure that coach will land on his feet and may even move to a bigger school. It was posted on another thread that he was going to West Hi, I don't think that is true.

That is what I have heard as well. I have not seen it officially yet, and I do not like starting rumors or speculating b/c things can happen and changes can be made quickly.

I agree.
too much parent interference.

The boosters (parents) raise a lot of money for all the programs at CHCA in addition to paying tuition. Some believe that their fundraising efforts entitle them to authority over a coach or program. It's not different than a lot of schools where the parents are relatively wealthy and raise significant funds for a sport.

Rumor has it that Mike Mueller, formerly of Lakota West, has applied for the job. If that is true and he gets the position, watching him interact with strong parents will be interesting.

Hilarious. So far Mike is up for every open job in the state of Ohio according to these posts. Let's not just guess he is gonna go after every thing open that is out there right now....too much speculation when it comes to coach Mueller.

Hard to see him at CHCA at this point considering the recent behavior at West. There seems to be two MM's. One MM is what he says and the other is what he does.
They should really consider one of the assistants in the conference, someone who knows the conference and is from a similar situation in terms of dealing with parents etc. If the varsity assistant from summit or 7 hills is interested I think they would be the right fit for the situation. If nothing else, the good Dr. Endicott is available!

Sweet, my alma mater. Maybe he can change that TERRIBLE basketball program around. When's the last time Mt. Healthy had a winning season? District Title?
I know when I went there my soph. year (2000-2001), they were decent, with a player named Rico Lofton leading the way.
This should be an eezier job than CHCA with all of their spoiled kids and stuck-up parents.
Anyone know if my man Todd Pflug went to MHHS with Farquhar? He was one of the assistants at CHCA.
i would love to see the chca parents get a hold of mueller. they would think farquhar was not the inventor of the game but mueller is.

Heard from one of the candidates that they have not set up a hiring committee but hope to do so this week. Not really sure on the candidates but they should get some pretty good ones considering the amount of money they have to spend on the program.
word on the street is that the next coach will be an ex moeller assistant.

Mike Sylvester.
Mark it down!
what are sylvester's credentials? has he ever coached varsity basketball before? what coaching experience does he have?
Carl Rick

Wow, think about Dave Moss of Sycamore. Moeller to the South, Sylvester at CHCA will now recruit to the North of SHS. Will Sylvester bring same recruiting model to CHCA?

Rest assured he has credentials. All American player at Moeller and University of Dayton in the 1970's, played in Europe for years, won a silver medal in the 1980 Olympics while playing for Italy. He has coached for many, many years, most recently at Moeller. I've seen him speak at clinics and he is really good. His son Matt was a star at Moeller and had a nice career at Ohio State. CHCA is lucky to have him!
