I know that's a regional trophy, but you can't find a good OHSAA state trophy pic on the Internet!

OHSAA. The LLWS is cute, but a 200 ft fence that any 8 year old can jack one out of, no leadoffs, and crying on the field isnt baseball.
I'm not sure it is a good comparison but I will try my hand at it. They both would be incredible experiences. As a LL player no doubt that is the ultimate goal, yet what most fail to understand that there are like so many other national type tournaments for 12 year olds with just as good competition as the LLWS, if not better. Just a few would be AABC, AAU, NABF, CABA, etc. They host national if not world type formats for the "world series", the only difference being that their tournament is not on ESPN. Now granted teams that enter these type of tournaments are rarely if ever a community based team but they are very good teams and competition non the less.
As for state tourney winners, the chance to play in front of pretty big(for Baseball) and partisan crowd with your entire school behind you would also be a thrill to last a lifetime. The road to the state title game can be filled with memories as you advance to the district, the regional and then ultimately the state tournament, knowing that a loss could send you home. Tough to compare but both are well worth the work involved getting to that destination.
Sprinboro-let me know any of the 8 yr. olds you know that can hit a ball 200ft. over a fence. We have a house for them in Hamilton.

GC- You never know he could be a 8 year old on balco swinging a $300.00 bat.

The criteria is clear enough for me to vote (reference to the state poll thread) :)

Nothing at all against LL but winning a State Title is a pretty special thing.
I have just another thing to add. If it weren't for the television coverage of LL baseball this would really be a no-brainer. Truly would be little to no following except for the family members of the kids involved. Like AAU basketball, select soccer, club volleyball, they all have national titles and receive little to no attention except for the participants families. It is still a wonderful accomplishment but aside for the TV coverage, just not recognized on that large of a scale. If one has ever been to the AABC Connie Mack WS, it is very well attended by the local communities and quite a big deal nationally but just one of many such national tournaments and winners.
HS sports on the other hand, even a secondary one like baseball, draws a considerable community crowd to tourney games and just grows as the teams advance.
I think they would both be a special, momentous time however.

Actually the AAU national basketball championship for rising seniors is not televised on ESPN. And honestly it is very well attended... probably has more people attend than a HS baseball state championship. Now the HS baseball state championship is more of a community thing where as the people who attend the AAU national championship are just random spectators.
I think basketball is a little different than baseball in that there is really only one main association that hold a national championship... AAU. I think a summer baseball national championship would be more of a big deal if there was one centralized association that everyone plays.
How about both?
If I had to choose, it would be the LLWS. A lot of exposure, really cool experience. Free stuff, treated like MLB stars, and the game is broadcast by ESPN. But, as a coach, I'd much rather win the state title with 17 and 18 year old young men!
I do agree with the boro guy though.... LL baseball is not real baseball. Short fences, basepaths, and mound distance is for kids much younger than who are playing on that field today. The talent has outgrown the field. No stealing? How stupid is that?
MY point was that it was not televised on ESPN and I have attended an AAU national basketball championship and if you take away the college scouts and "hangers on" I would not consider it very well attended. But I do agree about the one national tournament with regard to baseball would be a better thing but there are a whole lot of baseball teams across the country.

I meant to say it is televised on ESPN for the 17U AAU basketball national championship game. But, I think some of the baseball associations have been on TV too...

we keep them in boro. of course, the house for the criers is in hamilton
Maybe you need to let them out of the Boro because your HS athletic teams sure don't put them to good use.
