Badin watch out this year Roger Bacon is bringing this one home.
Returners are pitcher Keith Romer and Outfielder Zach Merkle.
Big game changer should be sophomore Brian Bein who is very strong defensively
Pitcher will be a little short after Romer but defense looks strong.
New coach Tim McCoy is bringing some good stuff in .

Div 1
Moeller will win because they are the greatest and may have the best player in the league this year in Robby Sunderman

1. Badin (Brett McKinney will lead Badin back to state along with #2 pitcher Chad Beatty. Other key players are Zach Toerner, Corey Van Natta, and Tony Cassano.)

2. LaSalle (Josh Hugentobler, Jake Meister, and Blake Lehmann will lead LaSalle. Andrew Neiheisel should be their ace.)

3. Moeller (Robby Sunderman, Brett Cisper are the top returning players. Look for Tyler Hutchison to bust on the seen this year though. He can hit it a country mile.)

4. St. X ( Michael Basil will probably be player of the year in the GCL, Tyler Holstegge will be the ace. Look for Tom White to pitch well this season also in his first full varsity season.)

5. Elder (Will be a very talented and young team. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't come in 2nd in the GCL South. Will be led by Zac Asman, Nick Gramke, Brian Korte should lead the pitching staff.)

6. McNicholas (Mike Hain will lead the pitching staff. McNick should also be a young team with Craig Hyson and Jake Powers being the top returning players.)

7. Fenwick (Don't really know much about Fenwick other than catcher Craig Geoubeaux is a stud)

8. Roger Bacon (Top returning player is Josh Ungerbuehler.Zach Merkle and Brian Bein should also be strong for Bacon.)

9. Alter ( Top returning players are Ryan Lachey, Ryan McGraw. John Woeste will lead the pitching staff.)

10. CJ ( Don't know much about CJ. Went 6-15 last season.)

11. Carroll ( Don't know much about Carroll either. Record last year was 6-17.)

12. Purcell Marian ( Don't know much about Purcell. Only had 3 wins last season though.)

A lot can happen b/w now and the start of the season so these rankings may change.

POY Candidates

Brett Cisper Moeller
Robby Sunderman Moeller
Michael Basil St. Xavier
Craig Geoubeaux Fenwick
Craig Hyson McNicholas
Jush Ungerbuehler Roger Bacon
Jake Meister LaSalle

I think Michael Basil will win it though. He has committed to Indiana.

no doubt badin has the best pitcher in the gcl so they will win there division. the gcl south will be between Moeller and Lasalle. Moeller always reloads and lasalle has some talented hitters this year. X will finish last even though they have the best hitter in the league in Basil

I agree, Brett McKinney will be the top gun pitcher in the GCL in 2009. There are some other excellent pitchers in the GCL. Moe., St.X, LaSalle, Elder, McNick, all have at least one that can bring it every year. Now there is a big difference between throwing and pitching. Some guys are flat out throwing, 90 mile plus, no control though, then you have the ones who can " PITCH ". These guys mix up their pitches and hit the corners. I've witnessed quite a few of these pitchers over the years who have made it to D-1 colleges and the big leagues

As far as the best hitter in the GCL, Basil from ST. X is stong, but don't forget about Cassano and VanNatta from Badin and Meister from LaSallle.

I don't know what their final numbers were.... all I can say is I've seen these ball players in quite a few games. They are consistent, that's all that matters to me. Home runs, not too important. Knowledge of the game, aggressiveness, consistency, and above all, conduct of character is what is important.
