I've seen a lot of baseball over the past few years in the greater Cincinnati area and I've got to say Badin High School, being a D-3 school, will be one of the top teams in greater Cincinnati. They are loaded with talent and experience. Their pitching staff, McKinney, Beatty, McFarland, Clear, Fritsch, are all back from last years team which made it to the state finals. Badin's catcher, Cassano, is one of the best in SW Ohio. They are solid at every position. Should be a another great year for Badin High School.

I think they'll have several guys playing at the next level, but I don't believe any final decisions have been made at this point. McKinney is healthy, no problem.

GCL usually has one team make it far in the tourny but look for West to be the top team again with great pitching

This district, for d-3, is one of the best in the state with Badin, Fenwick, Madison and Carlisle all fielding tough teams again this year. I would think who comes out of this region this year makes a serious run again like Badin did last year, it is just good baseball year in year out with well coached teams and talented players. Good luck to all of those teams this year.
No offense, but to put Fenwick, Madison and Carlisle in the same sentence as Badin is not fair to those 3 teams. There is no comparison whatsoever to those programs and what the Rams have accomplished. None!

You have got be kidding me when you say that about Fenwick, Carlisle, and Madison. Fenwick has won the GCL North every year they've been in the GCL and have made far in the tourney for the past three years. Last year Fenwick lost to Badin during the regular season 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh on a messed up suicide squeeze. Just because Badin has won the Central for 16 or however many years it is doesn't mean anything. Look at the teams in that league. It's a joke the competition they have in the Central. Carlisle is a strong team every year too. They always have good pitching and hitting. They play Fenwick close every year. Madison i don't know much about but I don't see how you can say that there is no comparison. Fenwick hasn't even had a chance to win 16 or so in a row. Wait a few years and then we will see if you can put them in the same sentence.

Which school has the best writers?
GCLbaseball2442-I would prefer to not get into a war of posts yet are you serious. Badin in comparison to those 3 schools????? I realized Fenwick won a state title or two in the 70's or 80's. but just since 2005 Badin has been in the finals twice, I believe they have been in the District Championship game every year since 1995. You mention the Central's lack of competition, Purcell won the state title in 2002. Mc Nick had a state title in the late 90's and are regulare participants in the District and Regional tourneys. Now what has ALter, CJ and Carroll provided in the way of conference or tournament success.
As for Carlisle and Madison, really come on?

I agree, disband the teams at Madison and Carlisle, what was I thinking??
Afterall Badin "run ruled" Madison last year in tourny didn't they. So much for that, again - good luck to all the teams this year as I am sure the road to the final four goes through the all mighty GCL, at both the D-3 and D-1 levels.

I think it will be LaSalle that wins it.
Munoz-I don't know about disbanding the teams, the Rams have to beat someone on their way to Columbus, might as well be from the mighty SWBL. Go Mohawks and Indians?

The SWBL, you've got to be kidding, right ! No D-3 team in the Southwest District will get past Badin High School in 2009. As I stated earlier, I've seen a lot of baseball in this area, D-1 on down, and Badin is very strong. Pitching will win you some games, but pitching and defense will win you championships. Their pitching staff is loaded, and most of the defense has returned from last years team. Oh, one other thing, they can hit from 1-9 ! Badin competes at a high level, playing Moe., ST.X., Elder, LaSalle, and strong teams from the greater Dayton Area. Badin High School, as I metioned, may be the top team, D-1 included, in the Southwest region in 2009.

So what you are saying is, Badin will beat LaSalle, your Moeller squad, Elder and St. X. this year, they may very well do it and that would be great for them. Good Luck to all the teams this year.

Any team can win on any given day, ESPECIALLLY in baseball.

That "any given day" BS comment comes only from those whose team isn't very good.

Give me a break, Badin's pitching staff is not loaded. They have Mckinney and then a bunch of average pitchers after him. Most of the better players on Badin play for the butler county diamondbacks in the summer which is just an average team. Badin may be loaded for D3, but they better have Mckinney on the mound if they want to beat any top D1 teams.
What would you consider a top DI team? In 08, they defeated DI St. X, Vandalia Butler, Springboro(ranked in the state poll), Hamilton, Fairfield, Kings, Edgewood and split with Col. DeSales(state ranked in DII). They lost to Elder, Moeller and LaSalle. I believe they won twenty games in a row until losing in the state finals. Not too shabby.

I don't believe McKinney started every game for Badin last year...... so where did all of the other wins come from ! They came from the " bunch of average pitchers " I'm assuming. Your wrong my friend, those so called average pitchers, Clear, McFarland, Beatty, Fritsch, performed very well last year and will continue in 2009. I had a chance to watch a lot of summer ball around the greater Cincinnati area last year and seen a lot of good pitchers, including the ones mentioned above.
