Who will be some surprise players in the GCL this season?

Josh Hugentobler and Danny Ems from Lasalle as well as Sunderman from Moeller

Sundermann won't really be a surprise I saw him play a few times last year. The kid can play. He was the only sophomore on Moeller so that says it all right there.

If we are talking about them now they really aren't a surprise are they? Not a good thread!

They could be players that played JV last year that are now on varsity. Dumb post. Welcome to Yappi rookie.

Tyler Hutchinson from Moeller. He is a man against boys at the plate.

Even if they were on JV and were the best player it would not be a big surprise for them to make the jump to varisty. It should actually be expected. Again, not a good thread! Surprise players are players you look back on after the season and say "Wow that was a very good, unexpected year". The players you are mentioning in this thread are players who have shown you something in the past and you expect to step up. Not surprise players.

Danny Ems at Lasalle is a stud. Possible one of the best defensive catchers in the city if not the best.

By the way, no team should have their team picked so how do we know these players are on varisty. This comes in early March my friend!

Looking at Moeller JV stats (Moeller JV stats) (http://moeller.org/Portals/0/athletics/Baseball/2008%20Stats/jvstats.pdf) it looks like the men were Ethan McAlpine, Sage Iacovone, and Josh Hooper. All had OPS > 1.350. For reference, Huchison was at a very solid 1.079 (team average was 1.031).

If T-Hutch gets full contact, the ball is gone.

He hit .375 on JV... thats impressive... with the most strike outs on the team...

Tyler Hutchinson is jacked but he's almost too big for baseball. He can barely move his upper body. I've seen him hit and he can mash when he makes contact but i don't see him being anything special. He'll drop bombs but don't know how consistent he'll be

Sweet he also hit around 15 homeruns in summer ball, 4 of which were 400+ feet

Wow 15 on the summer on team that plays 60+ games... 400 feet is not very hard to reach... Not sayin he is not a good player but you dont need to hype his head...

He can hit 15 homeruns in 60+ games but what did he do in the other at bats? what was his average? Homeruns aren't everything. I would much rather have a guy who can be a consistent hitter and lace doubles into the gaps and i can count on him gettin a hit rather than a guy who can drop moon shots but strikes out every other time he doesn't hit a homerun
