Down year overall IMO. I think the usuals will contend. Butler and Troy in the North. Boro and Burg in the South and C'ville and ?? in the central. The 08 class was loaded as far as talent all over the place. Almost every school had some strong players in that class. It will be interesting to see who some of those backups are and who can reload in those key positions.

Who do you think the top pitchers will be for the teams you mentioned? I know Beavercreek will have 2 senior pitchers that play for the Dayton Classics. Wayne will only have one senior pitcher who played JV last year.

Pitching is the big question. I know Brown will be back for C'ville and Northmont has two good righties coming back but I am unsure what everyone has. That will determine who really contends. Boro graduated everyone that I know contributed so who knows what they have?

Mark Stoll coaching at Sp. High?

Springboro has a very talented sophomore pitcher that transferred from Wayne. I have to imagine he will play Varsity.

Miamisburg has a nice bunch of Juniors. Pitchers Colby Clark and Brandon Brannigan can both bring it. They also have, Hickey, Holtzman, King, and Ewing. They should keep them in the hunt for the next few years.

I beleive coach Stoll is only the AD at the new Springfield High School, and that he has retired from coaching. I always thought highly of the job he did at North.

Coach Stoll is only the AD at Springfield, he retired after last season and a new coach was hired. There is a new coach at Stebbins also.

If I remember correctly, they re-painted the dugouts with the new Springfield High School's colors before North and coach Stoll played their last game last spring. I'm sure there were a million things to do, and that was something the painters figured they could get done before the school year ended, but I thought it was bad form. I can't beleive they couldn't have waited a week to do that.

Bo Grey is a big loss. Wray was injured a lot so that won't be too much of a shock at catcher but will miss his bat. What position did Colbert play? Did he catch? Pitching was pretty good. I think I remember a skinny lefty.

Anybody have any thoughts to share about the GWOC Central? I think the Central lost quite a bit of pitching. Beavercreek will have 2 returning senior pitchers that play for the Classics and a solid SS who can hit. Wayne may have only one senior pitcher, who played JV last year. They may only have 3 or 4 at most seniors total. Centerville should be the team to beat, followed by Beavercreek, Wayne, Fairmont and Springfield.

Great point. Based on the Bolts top two pitchers. I would have to put them up there in front of Beavercreek and a very close 1B to Centerville. Thanks for the reminder. The Bolts will bring a whole new flavor to the Central. Views are subject to change on a whim. It's baseball.

what about the south.....seems baseball is the one sport the south can truely compete with some of the big schools from the central what u think the south will look like this year i say boro and lebanon at the top once again both have some talent

what about in the north? any thoughts

1. Butler
2. Troy
3. Piqua (Could be 4th)
4. Sidney (Could be 3rd)
5. Trotwood

This is how I see things shaping up in the North. Butler & Troy both lost some key players from last year but I think they will have the most talent.
