I think Fairfield will be pretty good this year as they should have a pretty good hitting team, which should keep them competitive. Pitching is a question with only one returning varsity starter in Alex Johnson, though they have some talented pitchers coming up. How the infield will shake out will be interesting as well. I think only 1b is for certain with Durbin, otherwise I think 2b, SS, and 3b are up for grabs with Ventling, Prather, & Constable being the front runners. Catcher is another position where someone needs to step up and prove they can do a consistent job both defensively and with the bat. The outfield will be one of the fastest in the league and will cover a lot of ground with Hathaway, Holt and Woods being the probable starters. I see FF being involved in a lot of high scoring games this year, but overall a good team that will be competitive in the GMC.

I'd say there's a possibility of Durbin switching to third base this year to get Bieker's bat in the line up and Constable moving to DH with Ventling at second. The big questions this year are going to be catching, pitching, and short stop. If Murden decides to come back there's a good chance of him being the starting short stop.
Also last year the top two pitchers were Alex Johnson and Cody Riggs who were both very good when given the chance to be at the top of the rotation.

FF will finish behind West, Oak Hills, East, Hamilton, Colerain, Mason, and probably Sycamore. Another rough year.

Its time to look at what Fairfield has. Is Alex Johnson going to play? If not Fairfield will have no pitching whatsoever.

no pitching???, this years juniors have won 35 games the last two years, must have a little bit of pitching coming up. Don't say that wasn't varsity either they are facing the same kids that they have for the last two years and more when you count summer ball. I look for the indians to be competitive if they would get off their lazy butts and starting working out.

Why wouldn't Johnson be playing? Is he injured? If he doesn't play, some younger guys are going to have to pick up the pitching slack.

I believe he's having some off the field issues, not sure if he'll come out or not.

Isn't this the same kid that had some "issues" during the baseball preseason last year?

We have to be very careful discussing "issues" on a public forum. Libel may come into play. Please use the PM option.

I heard that the FF athletic director resigned today. Anyone with info on that one. This could get the Bluefan out of the closet.

Looks like he in fact did resign:
