I guess I am too old school...When I see a flat bill, I expect them to flip it backwards, jump on a Zero Skateboard and start doing tricks...
Leave the flat bills to the DC/Element/Zoo York kids and try to look like BB players.....
I agree completely haha. Something about a baseball player wearing a flat bill just seems strange.

Great thread by the way...........I am really old school so I say doesn't matter but everyone should do the same. Flat or curved hat, pants up or down (with the exception of maybe the pitcher).

Always a curved bill.. Sometimes cocked to the side a bit but not too bad... And pants up or down depending on the day

Flat bill if it's done right (59fifty)

It doesn't matter to me just as long as the hat is straight forward. I think it looks stupid when people have tilted hats.

I'm sorry, but I think the flat bill look is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in baseball apparel ...ever. I can live with baggy pants, pants over the shoes, high pants, loose jerseys, long hair, short hair, facial hair, earrings (obviously not during games), but I gotta tell you, when you wear the flat bill, you look like a wannabe gangsta punk.
Just my opinion, but I hate it!

AGREED! Baseball players have worn curved bills for over 100 years. I don't get it.

Flat bills worn straight forward are where it's at. It doesnt make anyone "wannabe gangster" its just becoming part of the look of a modern baseball player.

What makes a modern baseball player? It is still about the five tools, which are 1)hitting for average, 2) hitting for power, 3) running speed, 4) arm strength and 5) fielding ability.
Nowhere does it say a flat bill makes a modern baseball player. I guess it is OK, but I think it still looks stupid. Just play ball and leave the fashion for the models.....

agreed flat bills have become part of the game due to college players and some professionals wearing them flat
What professional wears a flat bill? The three that are even close to being flat (that I can think of) all curve theirs a little bit; Chamberlain, Willis, and Tulowitzki.

Did you watch the MLB this season?
here's a few examples:
Joba, Dontrelle, Tulowitzki (like you said), as well as manager Bobby Cox, Brandon Phillips, Volquez, Prince Fielder, Norris Hopper, Jose Reyes, David Wright, Masterson, Vasquez, Coco Crisp . . . . do I have to continue?
Did you read my post?
As I was saying, all of those guys curve their hats a little bit, if not more than that. It's noticeably on each of them. (I'll give you a little credit for Volquez...but you are on crack for thinking BP sports a flat bill.)

But props on the Andrew Miller find, his is a no doubter. I definitely think that it's become more prevalent in college ball, almost to the point where entire teams are doing it. However, I think that it is a far from professional look on the large majority of players, which results in an extremely low number of professionals sporting it.

yeah i knew i wasnt seeing things.! I more noticed it when UNC vs Oregon State CWS games in 06 and in 07. about everyone on both teams was sporting the flat hat.

i don't think anybody looks good in a "flat" bill, you've gotta have some bend to it.
But anyway, flat bill with the oakley's upside down and long pants is the way to go ;)

flat. not only does it look good, but it blocks your eyes more effectively without the inconsistent bill shape.

If you can drive the low and away slider into the gap, I don't care if you wear a potato sack.

Never one to get in the way of some fashion trends as long as it is reasonable. No problem with flat as long as hat is worn properly - bill forward and straight.

It has to be the right hat to flat bill. Some hats still don't look good, but if you get a low-crown college baseball cap or a 59fifty, for sure the flat bill.

curved bill. maybe tilted to the side. with high pants. long socks are the way to go
Tilted to the side? come on. I myself wear a fairly straight bill..but i also wear my hat pretty low to block some sun...but i mean to the side...seriously? is your right eye more sensitive to UV rays? is your right glasses lens thicker and darker than the left too?

Gentle, even curve — no "peaked roof" look or table-top flatness. In my opinion, the curved bill will block the sun better than a flat bill when the sun is coming from the side, and it works just as well when the sun is straight overhead.
And never with the bill cocked to the side or backward, unless you're the catcher ... or a manager/coach getting in someone's grille.
Also, regarding pants. I guess I'm old school. I prefer the pants down just past the knee, then rolled up inside, with long socks and stirrups (yes, STIRRUPS) up to the knee and under the pants. Think really old school, like knickerbockers. Don't even get me started about guys who stretch their pant legs down behind their shoes and attach them to the cleat on their heels.
And, no, I never had any problems with running or speed when I wore my uniform that way. Stole plenty of bases and got to many a ball in the gap in the outfield.

see, i like the pants down look. i think it is cleaner, more professional. Now a days professionaly players for the most part where their pants down. pitchers, 1B and C are the main guys u see with them up. But there are some teams who have some pretty BA throwbacks and then the whole team should bust out the stirrups and wear the pants high.
