My bet would be with Michael Basil of St. X

I wouldn't be surprised if Tyler Holstegge of St. X is player of the year in the GCL South. I saw him at the Champions Baseball Showcase and was very impressed. He struck out three of the five batters he faced. I thought he was the best pitcher there by far. I heard he was throwing 90 MPH at the Tennessee tournament that Champions went to. Its going to be interesting to see how good St.X is this year. They will have two of the best players in the city on the same high school team but I think there entire team from last year were seniors. I don't know how much help those two are going to get from the other players on the team.

Honestly there is no argument between these two, no way holstegge gets player of the year, it will be basil hands down

Before you start annointing him remember Basil won't have 2 seniors batting in front of him and 2 batting behind him of which 3 of those guys are playing D-1 baseball. Unless X finds some guys that consistently get on in front of him and are able to drive runners in behind him he may not see as many high and mediocre fast balls to hit this year Especially against the smaller GCL teams. If he doesn' rack up the stats against the GCL North and Central it will come down to his fielding. If that is the case someone else will win player of the year.

That is very true. X will need a lot of help other than Basil and Holstegge. Hopefully both these guys can put up huge numbers.
