Besides the obvious answer of Ohio, where is this team based from? Cincy, Columbus, Cleveland? Is this the same team that is from Champions that I just read about of here?

This is NOT the same team from Champions. Some of the kids are from Glen Estes, Anderson, Batavia, Centerville, Monroe, Lakota and Goshen. Go Team Ohio!!!!!!!

IMHO

Do these kids get a fall break now in school or is this tournament just a weekend thing. I kind of doubt it as going to Florida for a weekend is not a good idea. Do kids miss school now to play in tournaments in Florida? If so is it for the exposure? How many players from this areas have signed to play with southern schools thru exposure gained in Florida?

There is way more academic money available to kids than athletic money especially in baseball. GPA >3.5 with a qualifying ACT/SAT score for acedemic scholarship money = adademic money does not count towards 11.7 total allocated scholarships for baseball.

Team Ohio won its first game today in Florida. They played Team Florida and won 7-3. With the rain delay, Team Ohio plays 3 games tomorrow.

The did well with both great offense and defensive showing.

DADDY BALL is how they got selected, obviously no football players went down, just fall ball guys and we all know how competitive that is

Sheesh. You have issues with the "Daddies" whose kids are playing on this team. Not going there. And news flash, football players in Ohio are playing football during FOOTBALL season, so they couldn't go. What does that have to whether or not a team of available players can't go down and be competitive?

No Dads coaching. Jack Morgenroth, Minor League player- Pickerell and Ron Hawn are coaching. Nobody has a son on this team.

The only problem I have with this team is that there has already been a "Team Ohio" for many years. They are nominated by coaches from around the state and they play in the Sunbelt Classic.

Now, I'm sure they don't "own" the name, but is seems a little ridiculous to adopt the name when it consists entirely of players from our small corner of the state. Nothing against any of these kids, but if a team called "Team Ohio" is going to Florida to play, I wish they were loaded with talent....

Guess they could have dubbed them: "Team Clermont, Hamilton, Butler, and Warren County, Non-football playing, Kids with no dads coaching, pay their on way, missing school, Blue-Gray tournament in Florida Dudes" ..... sounds a little too elitist to me though ..... nah ... Team Ohio works.

Now I could go for "Team WTF?"
HA ! It's baseball people ... not a 401K ... relax .. and enjoy

The only reason they use Team Ohio is to give the demographics of the kids. They have a Team Florida there. It could be Team Greater Cincinnati. who cares it is some good baseball players playing in a good tournament. Not all All Star teams get the best players but I think, Haskins, Malloy, Bender, Gibson, Ridinger, Britton, and the rest are all pretty good...

The words Team Ohio are what attracted me to this thread. If your son ever gets a chance to play on the "real" Team Ohio, don't miss the opportunity. Can't say enough about what a great experience it is. Coach Mielcarek (sp) and his staff do a great job and the host families go way above and beyond just housing the kids. Great competition too.

Would have to say that playing for the "unreal" Team Ohio, was the same experience. They had great competition down there and I am glad that we had the opportunity to send our son down.
