I heard he went to one school then transferred/moved to Walsh University (moved back to Akron area). Any confirmation on this?
This kid has been to more high schools and colleges than Nixon had kidney pills. Wow some issues. AAU legend

that the only thing that matters is that he is in college and going for a degree. The basketball end will take care of itself. Good Luck to Nick Gross from those in RAMCOUNTRY. :thumb:

Good Luck to him at Ohio Northern... but just curious as to some of the High School & Colleges he has been to, & why so many transfers?
I believe Hoban to Central Hower back to Hoban to Manchester. I don't know where he played his senior year.

How and why did he go to so many High Schools without sitting out? Or did his family move?
What college did he attend prior to Ohio Northern?

My question is....
WHY are we wasting good forum space talking about a guy who's walked out on numerous teams and teammates? He's the absolute poster child for high school/college player behaving badly. :wallbang:
Sure... he was a skilled basketball player... no doubt about that.
But WHY all the slobbering over a guy only interested in himself? He couldn't care less about his teammates, coaches, schools, OR fans.
Until he grows up, and exhibits some responsibility and loyalty for others, I couldn't care less whether he's playing small college ball OR playing in a tavern league on Sunday afternoons.
His high school career was a 100% waste, and he spoiled those high school years for many teammates he left in his wake. :Ohno:
Shame on him... and shame on all those that obviously have a man-crush on him which seems to continue to feed his considerable selfishness and ego. :(

On a positive note, Nick will be starting PG for the Polar Bears. Spoke to Vince and Nick is doing just as well in the classroom as he is on the court. I am excited for Nick and will def. be attending several of his OAC games this year.

The name of the school is Harmony Prep. They produce many D1 athletes every year in basketball and football

Wow HoopHound... did he take your spot on the team or what? Such hatred coming from you.
If what you say is true, we can only hope that he has grown up a little since High School.
Does anyone know why he left Walsh?
It is already known that he is starting PG ? Strange, as practices just started today for colleges.

HH's has credibility, and I remember hearing this kid was bouncing around, and that's not what HS basketball is about. Hopefully he's grown up and realized the essence of being, and team.

I don't know what kind of student he was in high school but you can bet he is paying at least half of the $35,000 a year admission it costs to go there. They will give you a little money.

I wouldn't be so sure about that... D3 schools can take care of an athlete who may be a better player than a usual recruit. I doubt Gross would have chose ONU if he was paying that much money considering he had other offers coming out of Prep School

What he's trying to say is of the 600 AAU players who have applied to St. V strictly for basketball reasons in the last six years, two of them were turned down.

It's a pathetic individual who has to embellish their opinion in order to make the point that they are trying to convey to someone else. It just shows a lack of intelligence. Can you name all 600 and who got turned down? Just a thought.

I do not understand what your problem with the kid is? He is a great talent and a model citizen. He has been nothing but a model citizen at Northern Ohio. Maybe you should be less judging and look in the mirror bro. Have you done all that you are suppose to with your life? Was your dream as a child to be a moderator on a high school basketball forum? This model citizen and excellent student athlete is great for the Northern Ohio program. Greg Gross is an outstanding leader and asset to the Polar Bears. On the team web site it says that Greg is majoring in "High School Basketball Moderating"..you better watch your job!

I have a couple of questions:
1. Why he is going by Greg instead of Nick? Is Nick really his middle name?
2. How can he be their starting PG (as one poster claimed) if he is on their JV roster?

I would think that because it's only about the fifth day of official practice they haven't promoted any freshmen yet.
No idea on the Greg thing, though.

Only wishing Nick the best of luck in college, but this poor kid and his imbecile of a father, shows just what is wrong with sports today.
I was at a charity event, that Keith Dambrot, U of A basketball coach was the featured speaker. He said Nick Gross was the BEST player in the Akron area...a true talent.
This kid's father pimped his own kid out whenever he became unhappy with his son's coach or situation at school. The dad would try and offer his kid up to the highest bidder...between Walsh, STVM, etc. Only it backfired and none of these schools would bite.
Had he stuck it out at Hoban, he may have won a SC with the Knights

The earlier link that was posted has all the Freshmen on JV and had him listed as Greg in error.
The site has been updated as of today, and some of the Freshman have been moved up to Varsity, including Nick, with his name corrected.
No matter what his past was, hopefully he has grown up, and has a successful academic and basketball career at Ohio Northern.

- Central/Hower

- Manchester
- Harmony
Where in the heck is Harmony? Is it a high school or is it one of the "Grade 13" prep schools?

Harmony Prep is a powerhouse Prep School in Cincinnati. No doubt the best "High School" in Ohio. Nick didn't even start but he back up Terrell Holloway who is now playing at Xavier. Harmony also produced A.J. Hardaman, (Texas Tech) James Davis, (Wyoming) Jon Tassin and Devin Harrison (Chicago State). A school who brings together players of this caliber together to compete at a national level.

I would take HoopHound or FutureKnights advice over yours....Hoop has been around and has much knowledge. There is obviously something that was wrong with Mr. Gross as he kept going from Hoban, Cental Hower, Hoban, Manchester, Harmony Prep and wasnt he at Waterloo too? It cant be all of the schools or coaches. Im not saying the kid has a problem now, Im just saying with a past that someone has you never know what he/she will do next, will they stay true to their colors or show a new and improved person. I surely hope that this young man has it turned around as I have heard much about his basketball abilities and also realize that school should now take a priority.
