Sebring has hired Mark Baia as the new JV Basketball coach. I personally think it is a great hire. Any thoughts or comments?

He's a good baseball coach also. Unless he doesn't have a son. If it's the one I'm thinking about, he is one of my brother's baseball coaches.

He started out at the 7th grade level as few years ago, then moved to 8th grade for a year. He's a Sebring native, playing in the early 90's.

Congrats to coach Mathias. I have been out of the loop and haven't heard. Was this announced recently?

What is the jv team going to look like this year in the land of the Trojan?

Who does Sebring play this season in their non conference schedule?

Sam was given the job a few weeks ago.

The JV's may have some freshmen playing, either different ones each night, or some may stick. It will depend upon the numbers. The JV count will also depend upon if any of the sophs. play varsity only, two of which may.

Thank you numbers. You are always the a good source of info. What are the expectations for the varsity this year. Alot of new faces I would presume.

Yes, a lot of new faces. There MAY be two seniors returning, along with a junior, who chose not to play in 2007-2008. They will defintely help. The sophs. will add size. Still, the Trojans will be very young and will rely on Devin Weekly to do a lot of the scoring.

Mark Baia is a good choice for the job.
He knows the game, he knows the community expectation and he knows the kids.
His presence will be a big help to the program overall.
Afterall, he learned the game from a master.

I hope he doesnt let the COMMUNITY EXPECTATIONS play a role in his coaching choices and decisions.

The only two seniors that I remember that is suppose to return is Jurica and Weekly.. 11`s why did you put MAY.... is one of them thinking about not playing ? Or are there two seniors that weren`t on last years squad that is thinking about coming out?

Irwin was the first post off the bench and will more than likely start at a post. He runs to court very well. Keefe may return and will hopefully stick it out. There is also talk about Rastetter returning. The Trojans could use his athleticism and leaping abilities. There were some juniors that played JV last year, but their skills are not varsity level.
