Regional Title- I take Woodridge. They have a rested Wilhite and Krusinski, who both provided the bulk of the offense tonight against goldberg, who still looked impressive in the loss. He has a very lively fastball, but needs to develop offspeed to succeed at the next level. Woodridge started hitting the ball solid. Debord puts one off of the new fieldhouse, but foul.
I'm no fortune teller so i'll put it out there. After watching krusinski and wilhite throw, i can't seem to think who'd be better to start and who'd be better to close? Krusinski's the flamethrower and has a awesome curveball, and wilhite is tough as nails in close games. All i know is expect to see them both tomorrow. Who is throwing for CCC? Is he good enough to get the job done? I'm assuming he's not bad or the coach wouldn't toss him.

I'm guessing that Alex Myers will get the ball with Taylore Baker on call if Myers gets into a jam. It should be a fine game. Whomever wins will represent NEO very well in Columbus.

If I were Woodridge's coach, I would throw Krusinski. He definitely has the more electric stuff. Use Wilhite in the 6th/7th as the closer. I like Woodridge's chances either way. Should be a great game. First team to 5 wins. Hopefully I can get out of work to see it.

I wish the Crusaders the best. This is a game they can win. This is the match up that I worried about most in the regionals for them. I hope to be there but then I planned to attend yesterdays game and real life prevented it.

CCC has to play defense...no errors to have a shot....many of the games they lost...they gave away with errors...woodridge will not give you many opportunities...you will have to make the best of every little one to have a chance.

As we all know, pitching and defense usually determines OUTCOME. Pitching advantage: Woodridge. Kruzinski in my opinion has the best overall stuff on Woodridges staff. Much better fastball than Jones and good curveball. He also IMO has the only D-1 potential if he played BB. Defensively although up the middle Woodridge does not have standout SS or 2B they have been better than CCC. Overall Pitching and Defense lead to Woodridge heaqding to state but other guys need to step it up other than Kzuz and Lewandowski. They continue to carry the load for Woody's which they can't be a 2 man hitting team.

See now you have to give ursuline credit for keeping the game close. I mean i think Switka did better than the whole woodridge pitching staff did in todays game i mean CCC can really hit the ball hard and Switka did all he could to keep them close. Congratz to CCC! Good luck at State!

I don't think anyone thought CCC would abuse Woodridges pitching. Coach Miller sure does a great job at Central each and every year with what he has.

I agree! Coach Miller is upbeat and positive with his players and brings out the best in them. Also, he's had many talented players throughout the years.

it was a slugfest. Nick Jones homerun in the 1st was a bomb (his 9th of the season) but the key was that Grant McCoury 3-run bomb to left in the bottom of the fifth ( believe his 8th). The pitchers were ineffective for Woodridge as Wilhite and Kruzinski were hit hard. There had to be over 25 hits between the clubs with at least 10 walks. While it wasn't pretty at times, it was an exciting game. Good luck to CCC!!!

CCC now must face the Coldwater Cavaliers who are looking to add another Baseball State Title to their already impressive resume.
Will NEO get caught up in the Buzzsaw that is the MAC or will CCC rise and do what Mooney couldn't do in Football?

This would have been a very different game had it been Jones v McCoury. Neither team had their ace rested and it showed. Jones pitched two-thirds of an inning, getting a weak grounder which he threw into center (batter thrown out advancing to second) and a k. The umpire seemed to have a questionable strike zone. Very inconsistent both ways. Neither the batter or pitcher could get in a groove.

You have to be kidding me. Kruzinski is NOWHERE close to Jones as a PITCHER. Kruz is a THROWER, and NOT A PITCHER. He has been very ineffective in BIG GAMES for Woodridge the past few years. And to say that KRUZ has D1 potential in BB, that is a complete joke. Just be honest.

I admit that I only saw Kruz today but he would have trouble being a third pitcher in the Federal league I am used to. He is a very mediocre pitcher who benefits pitching against weaker teams. He is just not a state caliber number two against a good team. I am not saying Centrals kids appeared to be either but Jones has to be better than that.
Good luck to CCC in Columbus. Bring back a State Title to the area.

Bull. Central has five kids who could start and succeed in the Fed as pitchers. Maybe that's why Jackson is sitting home while others advance year after year. The drop off between Jackson's #2 and what followed was significant. Several Central pitchers could have been your #3 easily.

I think so also. I do not think lack of pitching is why Jackson is at home. I think you find Storch who will be playing college ball at Walsh is a good pitcher. I want to congratulate the Crusaders on a nice win. It was a team effort. I have seen Mike Marzec play many games and I never saw him hit better. I have never seen Lindensmith hit the ball harder. Rudy made great contribution. The usual cast was outstanding. That was a real bomb Grant hit. I wish CCC the best of luck at the state and may you bring back the elusive title. I would love to watch the state final if you guys are there but I probably will be unable. I also would think people would realize that I root for the Bears, Vikings and Crusaders. I want Central to win. I also hope that Alex pitches better in Columbus if he gets the start. I think Baker pitched well but it is alot to ask of a sophomore. In closing on Jackson. I knew Eds would be tough and they were. It was a game that could of gone either way and the Bears lost. The Bears are in my opinion one of the top 10 D1 teams in the state. There is no Jackson player that has to hang their head.

I did read again Raving and this is an answer for you. Grant is a stand out high school ball player and a very good pitcher. Max is a wonderful center fielder as he was when I saw him play at 14 on a Jackson travel ball team. I know some of the Central kids and respect them. I will assure you that Central does not have 5 kids who would thrive in the Fed. What they do have is lots of offensive talent and a defense that has jelled with a change in the infield. They also have great heart. They may well win the title and hope they do. I will still say the achilles heel is pitching depth and if they do not win that will be why. I have to wonder did you even watch the Bears play this year ? I know a bit about baseball and see no need to get in spitting match with you. Go Crusaders!

I don't agree with you.
Also, I think that Jackson did a WONDERFUL job and had a great team this year. I'm sure that the Jackson kids who will be pitching in college will be VERY successful. You obviously didn't see the way they played against St. Ed's - they were VERY tough.

There are lots of teams with great talent that are not going to Columbus. Why and what is the difference? Coaching period. Not just calling signals etc but a POSITIVE ATTITUDE ! Anyone who nows coach Miller will tell you that he may not be the best X's and O's guys but when you are constantly building kids up and staying positive...news flash to most area coaches YOU WILL WIN MORE BY GETTING MORE OUT OF YOUR PLAYERS.

Keep in mind I am a BB fan, not specific school fan so I say this from an objective view. The Federal league is D-1 but this year it is a very weak league. I agree most Central players wopuld not play simply because the competition is better at D-1 but the Federal League was pretty weak this year.

We are talking about a team that has what 15 staright appearances in district play? Or a team who plays a much better schedule than most D-1 federal League teams? Or the team who year in and year out is still playing baseball at Memorial Day (I know, Perry has their late make-up games)? This D-1 debate, is lame. Not only would several players from this team be regulars at D-1 schools in the Fed, they would be exceptional.
