Yeah...it's just starting now...and I doubt either of these teams will even make it to Columbus...let alone win it all...pitching isn't deep enough

Inning eaters are great during the regular season, sectionals, and districts...once you hit regionals and state, you need two (or three) studs...neither of these teams has that.

McCoury and and the #1 from Ursuline aren't studs?
Their #2's aren't exactly bums either.
Score?

6-5 Ursuline, bottom 4
And yes, McCoury and Switka are studs, but their #2's are not. They'll most likely end up playing Woodridge who will have a rested Krusinski and/or Wilhite (assuming Jones throws today v. Beachwood). They don't have anyone as good as either of those two.

I knew that CCC would come through!!! Way to go, Guys.
Great hit by Rudy Donatelli to tie the game.
Great patience at the plate by Tyler Weitzel to score the walk.
Let's do it all again tomorrow!!!

Very tough defeat for the Irish today. Baseball's a funny game, didn't expect Ursuline to lose after seeing they were up 6-3 and the pitching staff they have.

It was an offense day for both teams... Both pitchers got hit a little bit and struggled. They both played a great game offensively and defensivly. Great season for Switka id say.

really no suprise ursuline lost. They aren't the team they were last year. Switka didn't have the support he had with last years offense and defense.

I still think he is the best D-3 pitcher at least in NEO. He falls under the same category as Goldberg, ONE MAN TEAM. I agree that Woodridges #2 Kruz is far better than Central's #2. Woodridge to move on.

Ursuline has been to the State tournament the last two years. Four of yesterdays starters (other than Switka) started on both of those state tournament teams. To say that Ursuline is a one man team is completely asinine.

I'd agree he's top five. Personally i think Jones might be the best d-3 pitcher in the state, but that may be my bias. Russell from wheelersburg is pretty legit as well, and then you have mccoury and goldberg. Those five are the top five for sure.
Way to go CCC!! Keep it up and good luck.

Congratulations to CCC and Ursuline on a great game. Ball just bounced the Crusaders way. Best of luck to them at State.

I doubt there's EVER a team who feels their pitching is "deep enough". However, these remaining teams are all pretty much in the same boat, imo. They all had to have a lot of talent and good coaching to get to the place where they are right now. I wouldn't bet against CCC; they seem to have the momentum and are getting stronger and stronger with each game.

The Crusaders are definitely hitting the ball better than they did for much of the season. They faced some good hitting lineups in the regional, but the pitching is going to have to tighten up if they want to get it done in Columbus. Until Friday, I'll be waiting for somebody else to rip on the schedule or say that the Crusaders didn't face enough quality pitching.

for the CCC team is first-pitch outs. In the regional semifinal, they had 6 for sure and maybe 7 outs on first pitches and ZERO first-pitch hits. In the regional final, they had no outs on first pitches that I can remember. I remember that in the last state final they were in, first-pitch outs was part of their undoing there as well. Late in the game with the bases loaded and one out, a guy popped up on the first pitch. It contributed to their 1-0 loss that day. They need to be patient at the plate.
