Warriors(17-10) vs. the Bulldogs(15-8) is a very interesting matchup. West

Branch beat Marlington(21-7) 5-0 on Thursday and Louisville(15-14) 12-7 in 8

innings on Friday. Poland beat Crestwood(12-13) 5-3 on Thursday to get to

finals on Friday. Then, they beat Mooney(22-5) 9-7 in 8 innings to move to

regionals.

We gave you guys a lot of respect in basketball, and we were bragging that we almost beat one of the top teams in the state (and we should of). Anyways, the players want revenge, since a few of the players were on the basketball team. That's why we are so open on talking right now since we haven't been here since 1998.

If its not Mooney you're whining about, now its a school with open enrollment. I want Poland to win too, but please not for those reasons. These kids are on the fields of Poland from the time they are 5-6 years old. Thats why I would like to see them advance.

Good Luck Dogs!

Open parachail vs Closed public. Just for the record, believe me TONS of public schools recruit. Massillon, McKinely, Woodridge, to name a few. They very actively recruit players (no other word top call it). Please drop the whining because almost every school, including public "encourages" kids outside their district to come there, but the above schools are the most active at it.

I'm mean we don't get many people out of here. I mean come on, Louisville just got a very tall kid from Senegal. A LOT of schools "recruit" or "influence" their parents to go to their school...as itsa3 has stated...

Poland has more of a baseball program than any other sport. They dominated the 90's and most of the early 2000's until about 2004. They won something like 12 district titles. Canfield has been there the last 2 or 3 years, but Poland always has a good solid team. This group of seniors was the same team that was little league state runners up. They have played together since they were 6 or 7 years old. Also, as far as Newhart mowing down Poland, I think West Branch is going to be in for an awakening. Polands lineup is POTENT. They have been raking their last few games leading up to this, and all season long for that matter.

A pox upon members of the WB coaching staff for telling players if they don't play summer ball for certain teams, "they won't be helping their cause for next year." I'm sure that the OHSAA will be very interested in hearing about this practice. Let's see........1 Rosalea Place, Columbus, Ohio. I can see the letter forming in my head. Yes, I'm pissed.

Seems talent alone has carried the Warriors through the tourney.

May the Warriors continue to win, for the kids.

Why do you care which league the WB boys play for- your kid goes to Sebring. Worry about the Trojans not the Warriors- Things must have changed because Newhart, Harris, McNealy Campbell ect played on different travel teams last summer. Stop causing problems and let the boys PLAY BALL...... Goodluck WB Warriors.

I know more than you think about the problems caused by certain people. I care because of what has transpired over the past several years under the current leader. The leader has dictated who plays where. The "top" players can't be blackballed, since they'd have to play anyway. The middle of the road players can be threatened and cajoled into playing for a certain team. Again, I'm sure that the OHSAA would love to be informed of this practice.

Yes, good luck to the Warriors.

He also pretty much taught a lot of the kids on the WB team how to play baseball at a young age.

West Branch leads 3-0 in the top of the 3rd. WB got 3 unearned runs in the top of the 1st. I don't know what the station is, but it is on the AM dial somewhere in the 1300-1400 frequency. I'll assume it's an Alliance station.

If West Branchs first two pop ups were 3 feet either way Poland wins 3-2. That inning would have ended and none of their runs would have scored after that. Poland dominated the game with the exception of the first inning in the field. West branch put two balls directly into the sun that didnt make it out of the infield. Definately didnt outplay Poland, but they won none the less. Good luck.

I fail to see how Poland dominated that game at all...West Branch played exceptionally well and beat a good ballclub. Poland is a good team. It seems like they should have had a better record than 16-8 and they CAN hit the ball as they showed getting some decent strokes on Newhart but he kept his composure and finished it out. He ended up throwing 105 pitches tonight though. He has 3 more innings available but lets hope we dont need to come to that and WB's new #2 Soph. throws the game of his life tomorrow @ 2PM against Notre Dame Cathedral Latin. They knocked Alliance out of the regional finals a couple years back. Let's not let them knock another NBC team out and let's go to state GREEN!!!!

LET'S GO WARRIORS!!!

Poland dominated a game they were losing 6-1 late. That was the dumbest post I have seen on Yappi!

I've learned my lesson during basketball season. Let the game play out, and then talk all about it. I had

bragatitis. Now it's over. I had to make those posts when i had to back myself out. I understand that

you're just mad because the team let you down. I hate it when people say their "if" scenarios they would of

won. Who knows, if it wasn't for those errors, maybe that would of switched the

game and WB could of done damage any other time during the game. No one will know. You can't just take

out one inning and say if that didn't happen they would of won by that score. PLEASE TRY TO STOP IT

EVERYONE THAT DOES IT...I'M GOIN PSYCHO OVER IT...

I know this thread is a West Branch Poland thread but I don't see a point in starting a WB-NDCL thread for 1 day so let's talk about that game on here. Your thought? I think WB will ride the momentum and go to STATE!!! I know this might sound dumb but I think WB has more drive just because NDCL knows what this is like and have been here before and it's no HUGE deal to them. This is a big deal to all the WB players and students. You can be sure there will be a big WB following even at 2:00 but I noticed there were a lot of NDCL fans also. Both teams travel well I guess.

05-29-08, 10:49 PM
WBWFanatic, i can't find that NDCL-Holy Name score. Where'd you find it. Yes, i

would be there also tommorow, but i need a stupid ride so that's a no. But

I'm listening to the game on 1310 at school tommorow.

warriors378, I stayed after WB's game to watch the NDCL-Holy Name game. NDCL won 6-5. Game ended on a Double play in the top of the 7th. It was HARSH. A great attempted comeback fell short. Both teams can hit. NDCL's lead-off hitter was 3-3 with 2 triples, a single, and an intentional Walk. He is dangerous.

warriors378
05-29-08, 11:00 PM
I know NDCL was dangerous. That's why i was hoping to play Holy Name. didn't know you stayed...did the team stay? No one has the NDCL score up anywhere. that's why i was wonderin... 1 win from state...so excited...

If West Branch can get ahead early they should be okay...

As long as they don't blow a lead in the 6th inning to NDCL, like another NBC team did 2 years ago! :wallbang:

Good Luck Warriors.

I have seen both of these teams. I think WB exceeded expectations this year. I hate to say it WB but NDCL is a better team and they win. NDCL competition during the year is outstanding in the North Coast League with the like of Holy Name, Hoban, Lake Catholic all very very good teams.

WB had 7 errors, 5 HBP's to the other team, 4 BB. Terrible performance. I don't know if stiffness or what it was, but they weren't the same. What I mean by that is the school sat hrough a 2.5 hour award assembly. There was a lot of pressure at them today. Everyone was telling them good luck wherever they were walking. NDCL just took it to WB. I see NDCL going to the finals.

It kind of suprised me that Grove didn't put Newhart in at all...

NDCL won the soccer match today. It all started with NDCL's 2nd batter basically punting a ball and the ump said it was a HBP. WB was flat after that until the 5th-6th when it was too late. WB also didnt capitalize on any opportunitys they were lucky enough to get. Then to continue the soccer match it was BOOT,BOOT,BOOT for West Branch. 7 Errors. Unbelieveable. NDCL is a veryyyyy good baseball team and I also see them going to state finals. Good Luck NDCL. Great season Warriors. You greatly exceeded expectations.

Congratulations to West Branch on a good year. They got hot at the right time of the year. Good Luck to Newhart, a player who's career is far from over.
