Any updates on the Walsh Tallmadge game?

Walsh 3 Tallmadge 0.
Starn pitches a heck of a game, as does sophomore Kilway for Tallmadge. Starn gives up 1 hit. Kilway strikes out at least 12. The difference was Tallmadge made two costly errors that cost them three runs. Two of the best teams in the state. It's a shame only one moves on.

Who wins most years in that district? How often does Walsh advance this far, or am I getting them confused with Hoban? I don't follow it that closely.

the scary thing about walsh is that they threw skulina and starn to win both games of a very tough district... belair is probably walshs's ace and they didnt even use him. that team is loaded with pitching and they have three legit number 1 pitchers

Walsh's baseball team usually advances farther than Hoban's.
However, in recent years, Hoban's softball team seems to have an edge over Walsh girls.

I wondered how long it would take before the public vs private crack would come.

walsh won 3-0. i find it funny how all tallmadge does is hype up their team all year long and say they are better than walsh and then once walsh wins, everyone is dead silent and has nothing to say. i think tallmadge can start talking again once they win a district title again, and that hasnt happened for the last six years

Prepare for a whole nother year of this talk. The llws boys will be seniors next year and Tallmadge will talk about them for another year. Then they will bring up the Public vs. private issues to lick their wounds. Whatever they have to say, i want to say: They had a great team and need to be proud of them, they could have won this game, they just weren't the better team that day. Be proud of their talents they were one of the best D2 teams in the state.

I don't understand. Show me once where Tallmadge said they were better than Walsh. Everyone knew coming in it was going to be a dog fight, and it was. Although Tallmadge really didn't "hype" up their team as much as you make it sound, they did have a reason to. Worry about your game vs Lima, Walsh player, and don't bash on a good team that you beat in a good game.

Please show me one sinle post in which a Tallmadge poster stated that Tallmadge was better than Walsh...that'swhat I thought.
Tallmadge has a great respect for Walsh, and knew this was going to be a very evenly matched game, as it turned out to be. Tallmadge had a great season, and we certainly wish the Warriors luck.
I'm not sure what your agenda is with this post, but you are so far off, it's not even funny. Sounds like you are the bitter one for some reason. Get a life, have some class, and quit trying to make something out of nothing.

Again, who is bringing up public vs. private? Not anyone from Tallmadge. Lick our wounds, are you serious? You WANT Tallmadge to be classless, make excuses, and complain. Problem is, we're not. Funny how the accusations fly, but no one can refer to a single post to back your outrageous claims.
Heres the problem. Tallmadge has a very good team and so does Walsh. I personally am not in favor of private schools. I understand why, I can also understand why parents send their kids but in the world we live now some of the public schools are getting as bad as private schools in recruiting. The ABJ article earlier in the week was outstanding. Back to the problem, Walsh was just a tad better but not much. Tallmadges problem along with Field is that they play in the hardest district in the state. They might of been runner-ups in the district but I would say they are probably the third best D-2 team in the state they just happen to have to play the best D-2 in the states and by all means not that much better.

both teams are very good and extremely well coached. It's a shame that the game between the two of them has to be in a District, and not State, final. I stood around after the game and watched how hard it was for those boys from Tallmadge and thought of how that could have just as easily been the boys from Walsh. Either team could have won that game as Kilway was fantastic but Starn was just a little bit better. Coach Linn is a first class guy and so is Coach Kaczmar. I am affiliated with the WJ program and can tell you my son told me that Coach Linn couldn't have been classier and was even joking with him out at third that "your defense is killing us!" . . . with a smile on his face in the middle of a very stressful situation. That tells me his head is on straight (like I know Coach Kaczmar's to be) and that he has things in perspective. I can honestly say that I look forward to the next two years of competing against some very classy competition from Tallmadge. And, I was a public school kid and can tell you there are clear plus and minus issues on both sides but once that first pitch is thrown, it is still just some kids playing baseball and competing.

I played baseball with Kenny Linn at Hoban in the late 80's and I can tell you, he was a classy player then, and is a classy coach now. Congrats to Tallmadge and coach Linn for a great season. Look out for this team next year as well.
Walsh's baseball team usually advances farther than Hoban's.
However, in recent years, Hoban's softball team seems to have an edge over Walsh girls.
The both teams seem to have the edge over Hoban even though the Varsity's have not played for 3-4 years. It seems like Hoban has had the talent but coaching always seems to be their downfall. Coach Kaz just has a great thing going and his coaching seems to outdo Hoban every time. In softball it's not too close. With the pitcher from Hoban being just a sophmore and throwing a one hit 10-0 mercy in the District finals it will be at least 3 years before Walsh will have a chance against Hoban's girls.

Any school would be proud if they had Kenny Linn at the helm. He just makes kids better. Tallamdge is very talented but without Coach Linn they would not be as good as they are. Unfortunately the talented class coming up wil have to deal with Skulina for 2 more years...yipe!!! They MUST change that DISTRICT!

It's funny that you're talking about how Tallmadge went silent after the loss. It's called class. Notice no one has got on here and started complaining and making excuses. The classiest thing you can do is take the loss and tip your cap. BUt apparently you don't know much about class, do you?
I agree totally. Coach Linn is an excellent coach. He is always gracious in defeat. The only advise I have for him and his staff next year, is stop scouting Walsh so much, and just go out and play the game. I think the Tallmadge team would have responded much better, had they not been so "over" prepared. I know some will ask, "how can you be over prepared" ? My point is that these are high school kids. When you put the "Walsh" is the target all year, they will tend to believe it when they get on the field. Coach Linn, just go out next year and have your kids play the game. Look at the Walsh game as just another game, and I think your kids will respond alot better.

That's right Coach Linn...don't scout and prepare your team for the most important game of the year, I'm sure they will play much better:rolleyes:

Scout Yes, but not 7 to 9 games. Scouting that many games gets in your head, and obviously it did as Tallmadge bats went dead cold. Although, maybe Tallmadge just wasn't as good of a team as everybody thought they were.
tapneo I would have to disagree with you. Tallmadge is one of the top 4 D-2 teams in the state. Just the wrong district. I find it hard to believe, and this is no knock on Highland, That Tallmadge and/or Field is not a better team. They are all in the toughest district in states.

I hope for all (Walsh, Tallmadge, Field and Hoban) that the DISTRICT GODS wake up and make the Regional finals better games. Translation, quit making all of these good schools beat up each other only to play lesser quality programs later. No idea why the state wants bad blow outs in the Regionals and tougher games earlier???? They do the same thing in basketball. Unfortunately they are probably taking care of their good ole boys from some school they know. I know I know Politics have nothing to do with it. LOL loudly
