Any comments? Jackson hasn't been here for awhile...what about St Eds?

st. ed's has had early exits the last couple of years, losing a close one to austintown fitch last year at struthers d1 district final game to a walk-off.

Not much talk about the game. In 2007 as mentioned above the Eagles lost to Fitch in a rain delayed game. Played on two separate days. in 2006 the Eagles lost a district semi-final game to St. Ignatius. In 2005 the Eagles lost in the regional final to Toledo Start (by one run I think).

From looking at the scores in the sectional and district tournament I think we will see a fairly low scoring game. There seems to be fairly strong pitching on either side and I'm sure we will see both teams aces throwing this game.

Sounds like the Eagles have been around the districts and regionals the last few years. This is new for the Jackson players. I think this team will step up.

Chapman will probably go for Jackson. He is their best pitcher with Storch closing. Defensively you will hard pressed to find a team as good as Jackson.

There is little talk because no one knows much about the other team. If you know nothing about your foe it makes it hard to talk smack.

I know that Jackson is a good hitting team who is also good defensively (in addition to good pitching) so I think their chances of winning are pretty good.

Ed's is a pretty young but talented team. They start a sophmore at ss and behind the plate. Both are very skilled, and can hit. I believe they are both 17 so not as young as their grade suggests. They have good pitching but no one that has dominated like in the past. Allie their SS is used to close and can hit 90, but he is very wild...but effective...he will pitch 2 over your head (and to the back stop) and then strike you out....his wildness works for him because you have no idea what to expect....it tends to frustrate batters.

They can stroke the ball too, Jackson will need to mix it up and have a pitcher with decent off speed and curve ball to have a chance. They rake the fastball.

Should be a good game.

Yes Chappy definitely has some very nice off speed stuff so should be good one most likely.

I saw Allie pitch 94 at the District championship game vs Austintown Fitch. This college team that was there pulled out there radar gun and they were clocking him at that speed, thats blazing.

I sat and watched that same game, and the pitcher in the 5th inning was not throwing anywhere to close to 90. 85 tops. Hoping that isnt the same pitcher or some scouts have some serious radar issues

We, too, were at that game. I thought that last pitcher for St. Ed's (#24?)was one of the fastest h.s. pitchers we've EVER seen. You gotta give that kid his due; he WAS good. What struck us, too - he looked like he had total command and control of the game. He took his time between pitches and pitched when HE was ready. He looked VERY comfortable and self-confident up on that mound.
