The Yellow Jackets & the Aviators look to stay in the GWOC North race. Butler holds the lead as of now, but if the Jackets can pull off the W, It will be a race to the end with a 3-way tie between the two & either Northmont or Troy who also play Friday.

Projected Pitching match-up:

Joe Engle(S) vs. Zach Dumler(VB)

The Aviators can stay in the drivers seat with a win over Sidney. Butler has won seven straight, but will definitely have their hands full with a very talented Sidney team. The teams split their series last season, both teams winning at home. I expect this one to be a pretty low scoring affair, and will come down to which team makes the most of their opportunities. Hopefully mother nature will cooperate and allow us to get this one in.

I know you guys have some pretty good arms on the team. Is Engle considered the "ace"?

Its kinda hard telling really. Yinger & Engle are both pretty solid. I'd consider them both Aces. I haven't seen Joe pitch yet this season, except for one game when he came in to close. I know they both throw high 80's. Joe's best pitch is the Change-up. He'll either blow a fastball by & follow up with the Change or throw the change & follow it up with the fastball.

I'd probably rank them like this

1. Yinger
2. Engle
3. Strome

All 3 seniors do a pretty good job on the mound and we got a few Juniors & Sophomores who can pitch 5 solid Innings.

Looks like the Weather will cooperate. The rain is suppose to be out of the area by Noon.

Good to hear that the rain looks to be gone by gametime. I am really looking forward to seeing this one!!

I couldn't make it, had to work a little longer then I expected. Let me know how it went.

Sidney rallied back from down 8-1 in the 6th & 7th Innings to force Extra Innings & ended up taking a 10-8 win over the Aviators.

Sidney 10

Butler 8

(8 Innings)

Hats off to Sidney, Butler looked to have it in the bag but Sidney battled and made one ---- of a comback. Hough started for Sidney and got hit pretty hard, once Engle came in Sidney never gave up another run. The race in the GWOC North just got VERY interesting!!

Sounded like it was another classic game, I wish I would have went now. The North is still up for grabs and there is no clear #1 yet. Sidney hopes to keep running the Gauntlet that is ahead, starting with Monday when the Bolts come up North.

Owens CC is getting a heck of a player in Joe Engle.

Owens CC is cleaning house!

I heard both Josh Newman and Brian Daniels of Northmont are going to Owens. Are they a JUCO powerhouse? I never heard anything about them before this.

Good quest Tbolt, it looks like Owens is doing a thorough sweep of the Dayton Area talent.

Isn't Owens up in Toledo? Pretty sure they are one of Sinclair's biggest rivals. And from what I understand, they are a power in both baseball and basketball.

Yeah Owens is up in Toledo. They also have a campus in Findlay too.

I have heard that Engle (Sidney), Newman and Daniel (Northmont) and Gibbons (WC) are all going to Owens. They have started recruiting the Dayton Area and have players from out of state on the current squad from Florida and New York. Offer full athletic for D2 Juco which includes everything but housing, that alone with good facilites will be a draw , we played at their field last summer.

Owens sounds like they have built a nice program and it shows by all the Talent they have coming in.

Owens is 32-2-1. They will probably be the 1 seed in region 12. Facilities are very good and they have 24 full scholly's with no on campus housing. What does Sinclair have? Sinclair does very well with what I believe to be considerably less. They have a good indoor facility as well but I am not sure what they have to offer as far as scholarships. I would assume they will continue to recruit this area if they can pull kids away from their main rival.

On the flip side, Brad Yinger is going to Sinclair. So the teammates now will be Rivals in the future.
