If Alliance wins out I think they will get the #1 seed for the 3rd year in a row.

If not them then it should be Marlington

I would say that if marlington wins out this week, that they would get the #1 seed because of having swept west branch. If they split with west branch it will be a very tough call as to who gets the top seed between the dukes and aviators. Both teams are deserving.

According to the info on the district board's site, Coventry is the only new team in the district, and Timken moved up to DI. Additionally, Thurman Munson is listed as the district site.

Yeah, it'll be played at Munson this year...

#1 Alliance
#2 Marlington
#3 Canton South
#4 Springfield?/West Branch

1-Marlington
2-Alliance
3-Canton South
4-West Branch

I think Marlington is the most deserving, but I just don't see how they are going to be able to hang with the new playoff format switching to back2back playing days. This is where I think Alliance's pitching depth will help them in the long run. It's all up in the air but I think in the end the district champion will, once again, be either Alliance or Canton South.

Definitely not Springfield. They have something like 8-9 returning seniors but they are 7-10 and a total disappointment.

agreed dirtball i think that is simply the only reason marlington will get the #1 seed. Too bad it wasn't after next week because it will be interesting to see what happens during NBC play

I'm not sure what time the draw is. Any word on the seeding yet? The OHSAA has nothing up on there site right now.

I heard from a head coach that all districts/sectionals are to do their seedings at the same time this year. If that is the case, it'd be at 2:30pm today, since that's when ours was. I don't know, though... it's hard to have everything run the same way statewide, as we've seen in basketball.

If you would, please post information at the following link once you have it:

How does Lville get a better draw than Canton South? Just doesn't make sense to me how lville always gets a good draw.

Tina I agree with what you are saying. I don't get how you can give a #4 seed a draw like that when Canton South time after time has proven they can compete this season. It does all balance out though in my opinion with Louisville having to get through Alliance, whereas South will have to get through Marlington (if the tournament plays out as many expect). But crazier things have happened...my only question is who does everyone think will be this year's Minerva???

I doubt that there will be a "minerva" this year... Look for a South v. Alliance game for the District Champ.

I actually have to disagree, I believe it will be Alliance vs. Marlington. I think these are the two best teams, I really think the depth of alliance's pitching is key.

from what i've heard, Branch had the fifth seed and was chomping at the bit for South...should be interesting, next week South vs. Branch 3 times in 4 days, all 3 games will be HUGE

I think West Branch went there because now they would get to pitch Tyler Newhart 2 games in a row if they beat South.

isn't baseball like hoops in that coaches select where they want to go based on the pill they draw? if so, then the coaches have their reasons for going where they do...

I'd like to See Alliance and South square off for the district crown this year, it would only be fitting for it to work out that way. But I think it will come downt to Alliance and Marlington, crosstown rivals facing off for the District Crown. Imagine the crowd for the game!!!

Louisville has been playing very well... If they can pull off a win or two against Marlington this week, that momentum could carry over to the tournament and they could upset a few teams.

bushman20

Louisville always gets hot right at the end of the season, then falls off once again in tournament play. This year, like in the past, will come down to who has the best 1-2 pitching staff.

downtowntinabrown
05-07-08, 12:02 PM
Absolutely and Alliance and Marlington have the best pitching and both their lineups can get really hot.
