This Friday around the area, GWOC North foes will begin battling it out for the right to wear the 2008 Division Crown. Northmont has had the hot hand early on, surging to an 11-1 start. While the rest of the divison has put up mediocre marks to this point. Sidney was the early favorite in the eyes of many...is the North still a 3 horse race? (Northmont, Sidney, and Butler) Or will the Bolts run away with it this year?
Here's a look at this Friday's games:
Piqua at Northmont
Trotwood at Sidney
Butler ay Troy

I would have to go with the Bolts as of now but it is early. I think a lot of pitchers will improve with the warmer weather. I hated pitching in the cold!

I have not giving up hope on Sidney. It's hard to top the 16-0 run they made last season. The Jackets will bounce back.

I agree, I think with warmer weather will come stronger pitching. Considering Troy has gotten off to 9-3 start, I think the Trojans have to now be part of the discussion as well. Friday's game at Troy is a huge one for Butler. Should be a really exciting season within the division.

It's starting to look like a 4-way dance for the North this year. Should be interesting.

Northmont: Can they sustain the momentum they have built? Pitching and defense have been solid. Offense has been timely and explosive at times. The question for them is can they handle the pressure of suddenly becoming the "hunted" instead of the "hunter".
Sidney: Can they come together as a team after the issues they started the season with? The talent is unquestionably there to make a huge run if they put the pieces back together. I think it is fair to say noone thought Sidney would be 5-6 heading into the start of league play.
Butler: They are young and had growing pains to start the year. Will Dues rally them together and get them going consistently or is this a .500 team? I wouldn't bet against him given his history.
Troy: They come into league play with a solid winning record.
