Louisville(1-3)/Northwest(0-4)
West Branch(4-0)/Alliance(4-0)
Minerva(0-4)/Carrollton(1-3)
Looks like some very even matchups this week. The game of the week has to be West Branch/Alliance with them both being undefeated.

04/16...not sure where C.Valley vs C-ton is, first game was scheduled at CV and had to be moved to C-ton due to field conditions....so it appears this one should be at CV (not confirmed though!!)

Marlington/Canton South
Pretty even matchup if you ask me. Marlington has been tough but haven't really played any great competition (Carrollton, Minerva) so this week will be a true test. South is young but has proven they can win big games. I think South will take at least 1 game in this series, if not both. If they win on Tuesday, it wouldn't suprise me to see the momentum carry right into Thursday for a sweep.
Louisville/Northwest
Louisville is down...way down. But Northwest is just bad this year. I think the Leopards will shake their slow start and sweep the Indians. 1 or 2 more losses for the Leopards (especially this week) and it would be safe to label the season a "disaster".
West Branch/Alliance
Both teams are on fire now. As long as Nordquist and Williams keep the ball down and let hitters get themselves out by using the defense rather than overpowering their opponent, I think Alliance can take both this week. No doubt West Branch's lineup will be a tough task as well as Tyler Newhart on the bump. If Alliance beats Newhart Tuesday...I don't see anything stopping them on Thursday.
Minerva/Carrollton
Graham finally gets a W and Carrollton takes both from the Lions.

Louisville and Marlington didn't start their weeks off on the right foot.
Marlington got crushed by a very down Glenoak team 14-4, and the Leopards got whipped by Hoover 12-1.

what is up with the leopards this year? i guess they just aren't living up to the preseaeson hype
On the other hand, i am very surprised to see marlington get mercied by Glen Oak when TJ Sutton didn't even play

Louisville has done this the past few seasons...starting out very slow and sloppy. Then ending the regular season strong.

A statement was made tonight in Beloit...
Alliance 13
West Branch 5
Tyler Newhart is overrated. Alliance scored 10 off of him before WB brought Mick in. Say what you want, but I think he's absolutely 100% overrated! He is now 0-2 in 3 starts versus the Aviators.
Congratulations tonight to Alliance!

Northwest 7
Louisville 5
The score was 2-2 throughout most of the game. The Leopards took advantage of some errors and had a few key hits to take a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the 6th. Northwest came back in the top of the 7th and did the same taking advantage of some errors and some untimely walks by the Louisville pitching staff to score 5 runs making it 7-5. Louisville threatened in the bottom of the inning by getting on with an error and a bloop hit but couldn't bring anyone in.
NW 2-5 (1-4)
LV ?-? (1-4)

If Carrollton starts hitting the ball well and plays defense behind Graham, they could compete with any of the teams in the NBC. Hes a very good pitcher... Has he signed yet?

I think South takes the sweep tonight over Marlington. Should be a good game but if South can hold the Dukes to just a few runs and get ahead early, they should win.
wildcat, Summers is a soph., lefty, and has thrown a few non-conference games.
Well, Hatfield went yesterday against McKinley, so I guess it will be Summers on the hill for Marlington. I don't think I've seen him, what does he have?
-If Summers is pitching for Marlington, Canton South should come out with another win.
-after this week is it safe to say that Newhart isn't what everyone has hyped him up to be? Or the entire team for that matter?

marlington won't want to drop 2 games to south when they still have to play lville, west branch, and alliance........

Northwest 5
Louisville 4
...in 9 innings
Neal threw 8 of those innings for the leopards and i'm sure was over 100 pitches. Northwest almost put it away a couple times in the 7th and 8th but then with the bases loaded in the 9th Asbury beaned a batter that sent home the winning run. Louisville, at one point in the extra innings, had a guy on third and one out and tried a suicide squeeze. The batter missed the ball in the dirt and the runner was nailed at the plate. That was there only real threat in extra's, I believe.
Northwest 3-5 (2-4)
Louisville ?-? (1-5)

Wow -WB shut out Alliance? WB is a solid team. Alliance usually fades enough in any sport to let someone tie them or beat them by season's end.
Seaman threw about 130 pitches tonight vs. NW in eight innings. Stupid.
CrAzYInDiAn08
04-17-08, 11:13 PM
No need to throw that many pitches anytime, let alone in April in probably his 3rd maybe 4th start.

04-18-08, 08:46 AM
Andrew McAvinew got the win in relief in a great effort. Came in in the 7th with NW losing 3-2 and pitched 3 solid innings. Nw tied it in the bottom of 7th and again in bottom of 8th. A failed suicide squeeze left L'ville scoreless in the 9th, and NW won it in the bottom of 9th when Nate Millard was HBP with bases loaded.
L'ville relief pitcher hit two batters and walked two in the bottom of 9th.

Canton South is a good, young team that has suprised alot of people. Louisville's errors and Josh Graham's no hitter are all part of the game of baseball. It happens. Especially in High School baseball. South put pressure on Louisville's defense and made them make plays. And that's what makes the game of baseball so great.
