this team is showing a lot of heart. they know that they do not have any star athletes, or any standouts, but they work as a team. Does anybody think they have a shot at this year gmc? i believe they do

At 6-0 in the GMC, it's looking like they might. These boys know how to win. The West-Hamilton series toward the end of the year will be big in determining the conference champion. Also, don't count East out. Coach Hamilton has them playing some really good ball.

Oak Hills might put a stop to the blue tommrrow.

Any team coached by Dan Bowling is going to be in it...period!

This may be Bowling's best coaching job...taking a team that is extremely young but talented. Let's face it, the Big Blue even flew under MY radar this year. I thought the kids were going to take their lumps, but so far, WOW!! No matter what happens this year, watch out in '09 & '10!

BlueFan82: You are right. Well coached and hard nosed kids. I like kids like that. Good luck to the Hamilton Kids. They should be good for a few years.

I heard Big Blue was in a dog fight with Davidson Saturday night. Anyone at that game? Davidson could be for real as far as Central Ohio teams go. if you can hang with them, then your team is on the way.

BuckeyeBebe

HD won 12-11. Davidson started their #4 starter and shook up the lineup from the first game of the day (w/Vandalia--HD won that game 6-2). HD could field 2 separate varsity teams. Here's what I wrote earlier on the Davidson side:

Second game starter was Rob Tiefenthaler, followed by pitchers Danny Winter and Aaron Geis. Tyler Backstrom pitched the 7th with 2 K's and groundout, and had 4 RBIs in this game (also had 4 RBIs in the first game). That kid has been playing lights out.

Davidson is now 8-0 for the year, and OCC play starts heavy today with Dublin Coffman. Tomorrow is Reynoldsburg and Wednesday is Westerville North.

I think its just a fluke...if they come out and play hard against Oak Hills tommorrow and West of Friday then I will be impressed...dont get my wrong..they have heart but they dont go deep in Pitching..and that is going to hurt them......They will have a real challenge when stepping up to the undefeated defending state champs on Friday....

Fluke? Are you kidding me, you don't start out 6-0 in the GMC because you are a fluke.
This team may be young but they are still very talented and play hard.
And by the way there aren't too many teams that are going to beat West this year so that is kind of an unfair comparison.
They will still lose their share of games and will also win plenty. To say they are a fluke is ridiculous.

no way a fluke, these boys have been playing Competitive baseball at a high level for along time. remember alot of these boys played on a LL team that won the state and played in the regionals, thats why you see 5 sophomores on this team which is unheard of for a Big Blue Team but these kids can play... remember this is high school baseball and athletes still win games and I would take HHS's athletes over alot of other schools when it comes to baseball!!! oh yeah and these athletes can play baseball too!!!!!LMAO!!!! look for the blue to struggle a little against the better pitchers in the league right now but come tourney times this team is going to be one tough out!!

BPDawg, you're right! Wasn't that the team that lost to eventual LLWS
winner Louisville, KY by just one run? Wasn't that big Alvey kid a member
of the Louisville team? I've been telling you guys and telling you guys that
a successful Little League program breeds great high school team! Hamilton
High, Badin, and Edgewood are going to have some NASTY teams over the
next 6-10 years. I see one or two state titles, at least!

I definitely see One or 2 for Badin being that they are in DIII now maybe 1 for Hamilton Next year if things work out that team will be loaded and Edgewood will always have a tough time being in DI with the likes of Elder, Moe, X and The Blue in their region those teams are 2 deep in pitching for the Whougers to hold up, you know what I would like to see I would like to see a 3 game set starting in the regional final to determine the best team that way we really see who the best team is not the one with the best pitcher it will never happen but it would be nice

Fellas-while I agree that WSLL is a huge reason for the success of both the Hamilton and Badin baseball programs, state titles aren't accomplished quite that easily. Badin, even by dropping to DIII will still have to play at a high level. Hamilton has had some great teams not get close to the title. Many factors are involved, the biggest being the one and done format. On any given day!

yep even at the DIII level you will see pitchers who can completely dominate a game thats why I would like to see a 3 game series if at least the state title game

We'll see in the next couple of weeks. The Big Blue have to play all the top half of the GMC still. Lakota West, East, Mason, Sycamore, and Princeton. You just lost to Oak Hills. So like I said we'll know in two or three weeks. The road ahead looks tough!!

BpDawg. are u serious . ur judgeing a team tht u have seen play how many times>???? 1 time . and ross handel oak hills lol there were a couple home runs over there (huge) 300 fence with the wind goin out to ther (huge) 300 fence. haha most of them balls were pop ups. haha Oak hills swept Hamilton 1st game 8-3 and a 2nd game 10 run rule 16-6 in the 5th inning. then lakota west both times oak hills had the lead 4-0 in the first 2 innings and the 2nd game a sophomre kept the state champions shut out untill the 7th inning with 1 out . oh yeah and we ddint have 2 of our top plsyers. we have good pitching this year and def offensively we are strong . please i just ask don say anything after seeing one game. against ross who was out on the field 2 times before we were even out 1 time. Sauer, Bender, Nichols, Raleigh, Hager and Vestring thats 3 seniors and 2 juniors and a sophomore (oh yeah i forgot 4 of them are left handed.) Oak HILLS not strong u say? man . plaese come to some of our games . Malloy (Junior) leads the league with 5 home runs. Bender (Sophomore) 2nd in strikeouts, Sauer (Senior) can pitch and keep anyone in the game . Nichols (Senior) nasty curve and left handed pitches well alot, Hager (Junior) Small for size but brings a package with him. Hitting, Bluestein, Proctor, Malloy, Muse, Smith, Cox, im tellling you , plaese come to more games then just one and the first one at tht.

I didnt see him beating on anyone. The message I got out of it was that in the one game bpdawg32 went to oak hills lost and didnt look increadible. He said they have good players but only one solid pitcher, that really dosnt make a team. You have to be deep in pitching to be a good team.

and who is the solid pitcher you saw? because they threw a couple.

either that or hamiltons youth is finally coming out and they arent the great team weve come to expect from hamilton. granted they started off great, but after a while the lack of varsity experience comes through. that could be what it was also. dont get me wrong hamiltons good, and will be a force the next two years. just not sure it will hold up the rest of this year.

Pitching will be the heel on this team this year you just got to outscore them. like all HHS teams they are going to hit!!

im not denying the fact that they will hit. bowling will have those kids scoring runs, but what im concerned about with this team is like you said, the pitching. young kids can always hit, but can young pitchers pitch well against more mature hitting? i think the youth on the pitching staff along with the youth in the field will ultimately come to bite hamilton in the butt. hopefully im wrong tho, id like to see them make a run and get those 20 wins.

big blue will be a tough tourny team no doubt.. once they all click together any team will be scared of the blue. they lost to west both games by only one run, one was a suicide squeeze to win it, and another was a walk in.. and then they only lost by one to hilliard davidson.. the top 2 teams in the state was only lost by 1 run.. hamilton has some fight in them, even if they are the youngest team that dan bowling has ever seen.. be watchin out for the blue come yourny
