View Full Version : Cleveland Area Rankings
Bengal Nation

I stumbled upon the following website link that ranks Cleveland area basketball players by age group. I'm interested in seeing how others view the rankings; are they accurate? Who else should be listed?
From a Benedictine perspective, I have heard that next years freshmen class will rival the 2010 class with Wright and Jackson. Are any of the young men listed on the 14&U group coming to Benedictine next year? The top two in this age bracket currently go to Shaker Middle School (Cameron Wright's old school). Any connection?

Those are certainly some interesting rankings. Some rankings that surprise me:
1. Robert Johnson is the highest rated Bedford player? Over Holt AND Keely?
2. Aramis Greenwood of tiny Fairport is the No. 5 shooting guard in all of NEO regardless of class? Umm....no
3. Frankie Dobbs over Carl Jones? Why?
4. Who are Quentir Teir (Cle Hts), Josip Vodivic (Will. South), DeZmar Jackson (WGH), etc. The least they could do is get the spellings right.
5. Mario Hines (Garfield Heights) is no longer playing high school basketball the last time I checked
These rankings are quite strange at times. What is the source? clevelandarearankings.com sounds like a site an individual just started up (from godaddy.com) and put some names on it.

Bengal Nation: Luke Heben sounds familiar to me. I believe his older brother or an uncle is an assistant coach at Benedictine. If he is the Heben from Lakewood Catholic Academy, then I'm pretty sure he'll be at Benedictine next year.
Maybe someone closer to the program has more info. I don't know any of the other players listed 14U.
This list looks like it is from an AAU angle.

It looks like SVSM is loaded with young talent. Benedictine and SVSM may be fighting for the Canton Regional crown for the next few years. Poland's young team may have something to say about that, though.
Who knows? Benedictine seems to be moved to a new district every now and then. Maybe they'll end up in the Toledo regional again - which would help them avoid SVSM until the final four.

I haven't heard anything. When it comes to transfers rumors are just that -rumors. I don't know of any recent transfers into BHS - we typically lose transfers. That's been especially true with football and Glenville the last few years.
I hope that you're right, but I wouldn't bet on anything until they show up in the school building for classes. Anything can happen in the next few months.

If Nate Tait (Brush) doesn't get mentioned in these rankings, the talent level for the current junior class better be off the charts.
Daylon Harrison is a senior at ST V
