:) This is the last weekend to sign up for WSLL. Next few weeks should be exciting. There will be new managers (Thank you for volunteering). There are quite a few kids moving up (Good talent) and most likely a new expansion team from new players coming into the league. Try outs are in March and kids will get on a team and meet some new friends.
Does anyone have a clue on what the new team will be named?

Exactly why. Last time I checked, his minor league teams have been in
the city championship games 3 of the last four years, winning the whole
thing one of those seasons. Pretty good track record if you ask me.

With all due respect and as I recall it, other than in T-ball you generally dont get "asked" to take a team. You approach those who are empowered( that would likely be the LL director, or more generally, the board) and advise them of your interest in managing a team. They would then make the decision as to who may be the best fit and for what team. I am sure there may be exceptions, but I think that is how it works in most years. Seems a little immature to pound your fists now and say I wasn't asked. Opportunities are always abound. Now, sadly, the world will never know.

I'm not re-hashing All-Stars from 2 years ago. Let it go. I am excited about the Yankees new coach, and I'm sure you're excited for the prospects of the team you follow. It should be a fun season over at West Side and I look forward to the season starting.

I also have to agree with the point above. The board made no secret that we were looking for coaches. The men who stepped forward and accepted the challenge should be commended and praised, not criticized.

No, I wasn't saying anything about the number of All-Stars. :)

The way the statement was phrased sounded like the Yankees
were a bad team which I know you didn't intend to make it sound that way.....it just sounded a little funny, and I thought I would make fun of it.

Have to come out of the basement for a minute.

I hear Mel Kiper will be in town to attend the WSLL combine on Saturday at HHS. They have his draft projections on the WSLL website. I was curious as to what 10 year old could throw up the most reps on the 35 lb. bench press and I understand a couple kids have really good 40 times. Have many kids been to any of the training academys to make sure they get into the first round, that is where the big money is. I understand David Pollack was training a few WSLL minor leaguers at some training facility in Mason, helping them to improve their draft status. I was wondring if a kid got drafted by a team he didn't like, could he refuse to play for that team and demand a trade to another-ala Eli Manning. It worked quite well for him.

I am a east side Hamiltuckian and we were born and bred that way. As professional as the A1 claims to be he is very juvenile in his approach to reveal the GCPro's true identity. Most of the WSLL minions know the truth, why else would there be so much total lack of understanding of my true mission in life. Secondarily, I have truly no clue who the dude is, and could rather care less.
Yet, I digress. Back to the topic at hand. Have you all checked out the scouting combine report card? I feel like the Cincy Bengals of WSLL, no scouting department, no GM, no coaching staff and I would guess, another sub .500 finish.

A1-good lord, if you must know. My oldest went to a DI school out of high school, didn't do so well in the classroom, went to a JUCO last year and now is at a DII school. My second oldest is at a DII school playing another sport. My daughter plays no sports, as long as chasing boys is still not considered a sport. My son plays at the LL level, but also plays football and basketball, not much of an athlete considering he couldn't play for your Heat team. But no problem with that, just one of life's little "c" balls. Let's see what else, I have seen letter of intents, cannot imagine that you sign them for Ohio Regional Campus affiliates, yet I believe you when you said your son did. I truly have no idea whom you or little A1 is, but I have previously stated that plenty of times. I am not real familiar with FF athletics though I have known each of the past 4 baseball coaches, and beside Coach Etter, knew most of the previous basketball coaches. I will, however, make a point to keep tabs on the Indians this season. But then again, probably not, plenty else to concern myself with.

Nobody really cares who is who on here and further more the YAPPI Moderators have to tell someone every other day about outing or attempting to out another poster. Well supposed to be a no-no but we'll see what happens with it.

Is that a special WSLL rule? I'm admittedly not well versed w/ LL (just what I've read over the internet the last few years), but I thought LL doesn't restrict play on other teams except during the tournaments. Has something changed?

Also, I believe they may be referring to the 13U Heat team with 13U players. Do top 13U players still play in the WSLL program? Do they even have play after 12U (juniors I believe?)?

I think Rick Cassano only writes for the Badin Journal News. Maybe get Jay or Pistol Pete.

actually I know Rick does alot of non Badin stuff I think they kicked out of the basketball GYM!!!LOL!!! JK I think it will be hard for him to write following the Rams, his son should be starting this year I know I would much Rather watch the game and not have to focus on writing!!

I heard WSLL has a rule for playing on a other teams but it's not enforced, and no you can't play after your 12 year old year.

yes they can play travel ball no wsll rule for that and yes we are just talking wsll rules here

now if they miss there wsll game or games and it is found out because of travel ball yes then wsll has a problem with this

but i know the kids playing and this will not be an issue - they know and believe wsll comes 1st - they are just finding out what travel ball is about - the heat would like to have wsll as a feeder program when our wsll kids turn 13. so both sides know whats going on here - and understand.

so its only a issue with wsll if games are missed

BIG JOHN: I can say as the Founder of the Ohio Heat that YES we love the kids from West Side. They are eager to learn, work hard under pressure. Nothing more pressure filled than Center Stage at the LL World Series, and we welcome West Side kids that would like to play a little different game, travel a little more, but I feel nothing can replace LL baseball and the run to try and make it to Williamsport. My son missed out on that since FF did not have a program like that. That was precisely why at 9 Years Old we did the alternative took 4 kids Austin Ventling, Zak Shiffman, Kevin Fields and Gio Silvani.. 3 play for Fairfield and one for Badin,,,from our 22-0 coach pitch team coached by BTL THE FUN UNDEFEATED SEASON. LoL From that team the Ohio Heat was born..We even had some West Side kids and East Side ones on that team... Went from FF Buccaneers to Hamilton Heat played at Grant Field in the North End. to Cincy Heat to Ohio Heat as we spread out more. Good luck this season on the West Side and keep the Ohio Heat in mind in the future...

Just wondering how the draft went and who went where?

I think that Maus picked some good kids that will compliment his team very well. Definitely the team to beat this year. I also am interested in seeing what the Dodger's will do with all the talent they have this year. They made some very good picks.

I think we as a whole put a wrench in every move that Coomer tried to make. That was very nice.

I'll give it a shot. There will be no one as dominant as the Pirates were last season, so should be a fun year.
Orioles-best 1-2 pitching punch in the league in Begley and Marsh.
Indians have the long haired kid and seem to always be good offensively.
Red Sox will always be in the hunt, real good 11's and Hibbard is great.
Mets should be much improved especially with Francis on the hill.
Reds probably have the most talent, have seven 12 year olds and the two top 11's in the league.

I'm just going to be a shameless homer and say
Go Yankees!

I'm not smart enough to predict how these teams are going to
do. I'll leave that to the experts. I'm just going to enjoy the
season. It can't start soon enough. I'm tired of winter.

Thank You for the kind words..but the Yanks are doing fine without my
guidance. I'm more of a cheerleader who will help whenever needed or
asked.

I agree with Marsh and Bagley they gave a solid 1-2 punch and should be the favorites...The Red Sox are they under "New Managment" will their be a mananger controversy?? Will it tear the team apart?? Just Kidding guys...I think the Mets will also be very good and have to agree the Reds have the veteran players (can we say veterans in LL?) with 7 12yr. olds...

Who do the Indians have coming back...Of course the Long Haired
kid who is one of my favorites...and the H kid who is also
a great kid to watch....oh, and JB who does a great job as well.
The Indians aren't exactly hurting in the pitching and power
department. Don't act like you guys are going to just FLY under the radar!

We have the long haired kid, Jared Baker, Buck Ewing, Robbie Cameron, John Heckman, and a couple of secret weapons.

As for the coaches of the Red's, I had a talk with a certain parent and she gave me the low down. Your guys tried to play dirty with the Indians, we'll talk Saturday at the Throwdown, whoops I meant Drawdown.

Red Sox nation is doing just fine - not like we haven't been together for the last 2 year - like everyday for a couple months plus you stay in a room with 12 kids and its just you and another adult you have to bond otherwise the kids will drive you crazy - hahahaha beside if kenny gets out of line i'll pull the league director rank on him - hahahahaha

ok i want all you parents to watch the video and please don't do this - haha

Sadly...this is true in a lot of youth leagues. While ours is certainly not immune
to the boorish parent..I think our moms and dads do a pretty good job of keeping
it in check.

Well I am certainly sorry I am going to miss all the Moet drinking at the drawdown, have fun boys!
Back to baseball, any ideas on when the park will open and are the cages open even though the fields are closed?
With this crappy weather and now rain forecast for early next week and over the weekend is there any chance the season will be pushed back a week? Spring break will make it hard for teams to practice with a number of families going out of town. With a 3 games a week schedule that makes it tough for teams to get some practice in and I believe opening day is only a little more than 3 weeks away. Some teams do not have the ability to use indoor facilities. Any thoughts from the "gurus".

TRN1
03-12-08, 12:23 PM
as of right now i don't see the season being pushed back - obviously if things don't change that can be discussed

i would hope the cages would be opened by monday - that snow stopped the lights from being put up on cage 3 and we need to get the carpet down

if it wouldn't rain tomorrow or friday we could try for the weekend - cages

i guess we all hear different things but i was under the impression all the team had a place inside to practice

Well it looks to be another week of practice shot. Two weeks until first pitch and no one has been on a field yet. Well I guess no one has, I guess if you are in the know you can somehow get some pt at the complex. What does a guy with no "in" at HHS, no "in" at one of the wonderful indoor hitting complexes around, no "in" for all star pre season practice. Just show up and play on April 6 I guess????? Business as usual.

Take it up with the man upstairs. I'm pretty frustrated with the snow, rain, hail, wind, pestillence as well. I'd love to get out on the field..but we're not
getting cooperation from Tim Hedrick.
