PRAYER REQUEST-Teacher Shot and Stabbed At Notre Dame School in Portsmouth Ohio

Please pray for the Portsmouth community as a 5th grade teacher was shot and stabbed in front of her classroom at Notre Dame Elementary Catholic School, this morning by her ex-husband, she is in critical condition, he also stabbed his girlfriend before going to the school.

My son, Brandon White, Akron baseball player, had this teacher in in 5th grade and loved her. She has taught for 20 years.

Ask everyone to pray, as everyone always thinks it will never happen to their community, but it has ours.

it has been confirmed that the man has taken his own life in their home

Teacher's name is Christy Layne, the ex-husband is Mike Layne, they have two grown young men.

Thanks for all of the prayers. Both women are still listed in critical condition, but expected to survive, the paper stated that Ms. Layne was stabbed 14 times and shot several times. After he stabbed and shot his wife, he went to another teacher's room that had testified against him a while back, I guess in a divorce hearing or something to that affect, but the door to the room was locked, thank God, so he left the building.

The kids, families, and faculty seem to be doing as well as they can, I think the vigil last night helped.

I will keep everyone posted on the condition of Ms. Layne and Ms. Loop as I find out.

Ms. Loop was released from the hospital on Sat and is expected to have full recovery. Ms. Layne, the teacher is still undergoing multiple surgeries in the hospital but expected to recover as well. She also became grandmother for the first time last week. She is expected to be released from the hospital in the next week or so, thanks for all of the prayers.

Strange thing yesterday morning, looked up in the sky and there was a rainbow above the city of Portsmouth, on a cold, snowy, winter day....this was the first day back for students since the incident.
