gastrich being out for the season really hurts milford too. i dont think they will be able to compete with glen este and anderson for the league title now.

Milford has done very well against Glen Este the past few years. While the Glen Este team has A LOT of talent, it all depends on who shows up for the game. GE has a lot to prove this year with all the talk that went on, but have the players to back it hope...lets just hope they can provide

Any word on how Mike is doing?? Is he going to have surgery? Also was he still slated to play with Midland again this year as well? If someone sees him, give him my best...I hope he recovers well.

:grouphug: Sending Mikey a big group hug...he knows who there from..hint hint...Gerb..he he

mike might not be gone all season.

to be honest, it wouldnt matter if milford had johnny bench in his prime behind the plate this year. their problems have gotten far worse than just mike, besides coop will do a fine job behind the plate, he may not have the arm, but when it comes to blocking hes a wall. milfords problem is they have 2 pitchers. hickok, and nesterhoff. thats not gonna get it done.

Hickok, and Nesterhoff? That's it?

What about McFarland? An earlier post said he should be ready by early March. And what about Seitz, Amos, and Stoner mentioned in an earlier post?

Are some of these guys hurt/ineligible/etc. or is this an attempt at sandbagging? Gastrich is a big loss but I just read that he may not even be gone the whole season.

Unless there are known issues w/ more pitchers I'm guessing this is a sandbagging attempt. I believe Milford will be at or near the top in the FAVC Buckeye this year.

STONER TRANSFERRED TO LOVELAND, SEITZ IS OUT WITH ARM SURGERY, I HOPE MCFARLAND WILL BE READY, BUT HIS KNEE WAS HURT BADLY. I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT AMOS. IF GASTRICH HAD A TORN ACL HE WILL NOT CATCH THIS YEAR OR ANY YEAR. COLT CATTANI WAS THE FINEST CATCHER I HAD EVER SEEN UNTIL HE TORE HIS MCL IN FOOTBALL. HE NEVER CAUGHT AGAIN. AND COLTON HAD A ROCKET.

Thanks AmericaOne. I hope the injuries heal well (and quick!). Those are some severe setbacks in such a short period of time. I guess that answers my question about sandbagging.

I never knew Cattani tore his ACL. I recall reading on here about a knee injury but I don't remember it being an ACL. Dit it happen a while ago? Was he catching up until then or had he stopped catching before the injury? I just figured he had given up catching to focus on infield play.

Colton did not tear his ACL it was a MCL his Soph year at East while playing QB.

He had caught up until then and may start catching once again soon.

He had a second knee surgery two weeks before the season started of his Junior year that he had not completely recovered from.

He is fine now and looking to improve his game for the next level.

USA1:

MY Bad I knew he caught before he had his knee injury. I knew he tore a knee ligament. Medial Colateral and Anterior Cruciate although different injuries hurt badly when in the crouching positon and up and down movement. But coming back from either in a couple of months would be strange.. they take a while to heal. I am glad to hear that Colt will catch again. He is a very good catcher and I think could do very well as a catcher at the next level He has the body and arm. But Colton probably could play any position...

mike didnt tear his acl. he had some cartiladge loose, they removed it and said he would be back in two months, not necesarrily catching though. I think the doctor may be wrong though because mike has only come to school once in the past two weeks, his knee hurts so much he cannot walk on crutches.

Were deep in the field, we got cooper behind the plate in gas's absense. Pitching won't be as bad as people believe.

milford will need some juniors to step up big time, both starting and relieving, Adam Cassidy as a spot starter, Travis haehnle outta the pen, and maybe another junior pitcher. Also if Brian Holden comes back he will need to pitch and pitch effectively

cincysharks17
02-15-08, 12:25 AM
our pitching is as bad as people say. any time you lose 2 of your top 3 pitchers due to injury, its bad. we have one guy left with varsity experience. lets not lie to eachother, its not lookin good for the eagles pitching staff.

cincysharks17
02-15-08, 12:26 AM
oh yeah and we lost our fourth starter and right fielder. so yeah we are in bad shape.

Trojanman_11
02-17-08, 11:50 PM
mcfarland has always ben a good pitcher. if his knee is ok he may be able to pitch for you guys. he has had plenty of experience inthe summer. he has a sick knuckle ball that he can throw effectivley every pitch. his curve and fastball are above average but with his knee he may have to stick to the knuckle ball.

amos is back throwing and should be fine for the season which makes the rotation Hickok, Amos, Nesteroff

baseball player 7
02-27-08, 12:42 AM
well it looks like it might be a good rotation
amos has some nasty stuff
Gary has a very nice knuckle curve and nice MHPs
nesterhoff--well dont know who he is but talkign to elliot he sounds very legit

Eaglesball08

I think we have one of the best top to bottom lineups, defensively and offensively, might be lacking a little power from last year, but a lot more speed.. all outfielders run a 6.8 or under.

injuredx2
02-27-08, 06:50 PM
last i heard we had one outfielder that could run a 6.8 and that was nesteroff. i dont know what other two outfielders run a 6.8 or under. even if we had 2 to other outfielders that could run a 6.8 or under it wouldnt matter because we still dont have any pitching. we have to returning pitchers with varsity experience hickok and amos. and no one is sure right now how amos's arm is going to hold up. pitching is the key. nesteroff is a good pitcher as well but it is going to be hard for him to stay fresh since he is also going to be the everyday center fielder.

Trojanman_11
02-28-08, 10:38 PM
nesterhoff did just fine last summer playing centerfied and pitching. he only had one bad outing out of many last year. good thing for you guys he came in from home schooling. he has late movement on his fastball and hits up to 87. he is also a very good left handed stick and as mentioned is a good runner.

Diaker and Renz do, When Holden's done with his 6 game suspension he runs around a 7.0-7.2 which i know isn't anything special but he's a good addition. Amos's arm is fine, he had it checked out... We got out 3 starters (amos, hickok, and nesteroff), Holden after his 6 game suspension and McFarland pitched in a game or two last year as a sophmore.. yeah some people will have to step up but only person we lost was seitz.. were not that bad.

03-01-08, 12:12 AM
ok we will see whos right when the season rolls around. Amos arm is fine now but it has been hurting all this winner and you cant count on him to stay healthy all season. he might. but theres not a good chance. nesteroff is a great pitcher but you have to keep in mind that he is going to be in center and is not going to be fresh when he takes the mound. sure it all looks fine on paper but iv seen it like this before. doesnt always work out that well.

Eaglesball08
03-01-08, 12:33 AM
Diaker and Renz split time in center last year, they both have the experience.. we are deepest in the outfield out of all positions..

injuredx2
03-01-08, 10:38 PM
good your gonna need them to chase down all the tracers that are hit into the gaps.

stayflyyy22
03-02-08, 01:03 AM
Don't be so negative man. Even when Nesticles does pitch you can just move daiker to center and put aj wilson in right (or put renz in center and move aj to left). And if you dont want to put a sphomore in there then put Travis Haehnle in. He runs in the 6.8-6.9 range but isnt as good of a hitter as aj. RObbie Will be able to handle doing both, he is a tought guy.

i hope so. but the arm can only take so much abuse. then it stops working. I have a question for someone who is a pitcher for milford. one of the players came over to my house the other day and told me that ferguson said that he was going to have the pitchers throwing 80 pitch bullpens by the time the season starts? is this true because if it is thats the number one stupidest thing that i have ever seen.

Why? I assume they intend to use simulated innings/games to build up the pitch count. Do you think the pitch count goal should be higher or lower (or is something else wrong with the approach?)?

injuredx2
03-02-08, 03:29 PM
last year the pitch count was under in real games. when you beat up an arm like that it cant turn out good. that is way to many pitches for bullpen sessions. they dont have enough pitching to be killing arms with 80 pitch bullpens. they need to take it easy.
