Who will be the best team in Dayton this spring? Who are the best returning pitchers?
There are about 4 teams that stick out among the Dayton Area.
Sidney, Springboro, Wayne and Northmont.
Sidney only loses 1 Starter from last years GWOC North Champions, Sectional Champs, and District Runner-Up team. They set a Sidney High School record for Wins in a season with 23.(23-4) Also they won their first 17 games before losing.
Springboro is definitely the Favorite in the GWOC South Division. They have alot of talent and return Chuck Ghysels P (Buckeye Scout Top 100: 21).
Wayne will probably be the favorite in the GWOC Central Divison.
Best Returning Pitchers (In No Particular Order):
Chuck Ghysels (Springboro)
Cory Hough (Springboro)
Joe Engle (Sidney)
Brad Yinger (Sidney)
Nathan Strome (Sidney)
Zach Dumler (Vandalia-Butler)
Josh Newman (Northmont)
Luke Langdon (Troy)
Mike Haulschild (Beavercreek)

Yeah because he hurt his Shoulder or else he would have. It makes no difference anyways because he is a solid Catcher.
I forgot about West.
I didn't know Troy had that many good Pitchers, I think Lamka pitched both Sidney games.

Newman pitched a little during his sophomore season and was held out his junior season (from pitching) due to a shoulder problem.
West should be really good and there are some mostly unknown juniors that should fill the gaps for Northmont. I don't know that the junior pitching will dominate, but it should be good enough to keep them in games.

Yeah, I was bout to say...I thought Newman pitched before he injured his Shoulder.
I know he had Surgery and thats why he missed Football season. So, It's quite possible he could be on the mound at some point this coming season.

If I posted every pitcher from every team, the thread wouldn't be (Best Returning Pitchers), it would be (All Returning Pitchers).
I know there are plenty of solid pitchers, Most of the ones that have been said were All-Conference players last year. That's what I went off of, the returning All-Conference pitchers.

What about the rest of the GWOC Central? I'd think Beavercreek, Fairmont and Centerville will all be good.
Also, I'd say Springboro will be the best Dayton team with a slight edge over Sidney.

We may find out for sure if they play this season.
I don't know if Beavercreek will be stellar next season, Sidney beat them 10-0 in the Sectional Final.
I'm just glad that Sidney finally has a sport that they are considered one of the top teams in area. You know Football and Basketball has been a real struggle here as of lately.

I think Sidney is easily the team to beat in the North, returning almost everyone from last season's talented team.
Wayne & Centerville will duke it out for the Central. Unfortunately neither team shows up on the Butler schedule. (Butler and Cville will scrimmage)
Springboro should dominate the South.

I agree with you BA, Sidney and Butler will be battling it out again for the North but Northmont might not be far behind.
Sidney only loses 1 starter, Catcher Jude DeLoye (Who was a big part of the Lineup.)
However, we do have a couple players this year that would have played last year but they get into some "off the field trouble" and couldn't play. So, Sidney should be balanced again this coming season.
The Pitching Rotation of Yinger, Engle, and Strome will do alot of damage this season. Not sure who the #4 guy will be yet.

Northmont's pitching will be in the hands of Ryan West, Bryan Daniel, Ian Creager, Kevin Tolle and Jordan Grilliot. I'd betcha $1 that Newman will never see the mound.
Newman is likely to focus on DH'ing. There is no better bat in the area. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at 1B either. My guess is that he won't push his shoulder for HS ball; he's already proved himself.
Brian Tolle is solid as a rock at SS, and can put the ball on the bat any where, any how. Beemer at first is solid and if he starts hitting consistently will make for a consistent lineup for the Bolts. Newcomer Kenny (unknown last name) from Puerto Rico, is a new addition and I understand a very fast, and very competent outfielder. Tyler Bergman, Ben Myers and Matt Shepherd (all Srs.) all have the ability to knock the cover of the ball. If they stay healthy, the Bolts could challenge Springboro and make a charge in the tournament.
I've heard Ryan West might be having some back problems. If he can recuperate and is able to throw his usual, the Bolts are gonna be tough.

I'm hoping for a Rematch with Elder in the District Championship.
Their was only 3 Seniors on last years Sidney team, I think they were a little "dazed and confused" playing down in Cincinnati against one of the best Pitchers in the State, Mike Nastold.
This year will be a different story if they can make it that far again. Alot of experience on this Sidney team.

As I said, I expect the Bolts to be right there with Sidney and Butler. I don't think Piqua and Troy will be much of a factor in the GWOC North. It's really a three team race.

Well, I can take a shot at Sidney's starting Lineup next year...
C Justin Stewart
1B Spencer Rickert/Nathan Strome
2B Shane Delligata
SS Nick Waters
3B Joe Engle/Brad Yinger (Depending on which is Pitching)
LF Cameron Immel
CF Dean Ratliff
RF Xavier Foy
Pitching Rotation:
Brad Yinger
Joe Engle
Nathan Strome
That's about as much as I know right now.
