This goes to show the Enquirer obviously pulls names out of a hat and coaches around the area are not doing their research.
DI looks pretty good but I would place Winton Woods 3rd. Princeton would only be 5 if Sanders is back and healthy.
DII-DIV
McNick would not be in the Top 10. They lost 3 of their top four scorers and the 4th leading scorer and their best player is out for the yr with a back injury. McNick is in for a long season in the GGCL.
There was a coaching change at CHCA but they still bring back a strong group.
Seven Hills lose 3 key players from last season. 2 who went on to play DIII at the next level. Added Summit's Dunn to make this an athletic team. I'd move them up to 4th or better.
G-Town lost their starting back court. Press, Press, Press SBC coaches.
Batavia lost two of last seasons leading scorers to injuries.
The polls should shake themselves out as the season progresses. Name sake and last season results have placed some teams in spots.
Since when has the Enquirer been good at anything but providing the lining to the bottom of a pet cage.
CB1 - agree with your analysis about Div 1. I think WW should wind up higher in the polls as the year goes on. They could quite possibly be better than Lakota West when it's all said and done.
I guess we'll get to find out early about Princeton and Mercy as they play each other Saturday in the GMC v. GGCL showdown at Harrison H.S.
Another team I think could make a move up the polls is Walnut. I'll be curious to see if that team can string some wins together and get on a roll.

no doubt winton will be good....but push to be better then West???? I don't know. They don't have the forwards to match up with gray and rogers, and west is good enough at the guard position to handle pressure, I just think West is better.
I also, think there schedule may hurt them, I just don't see them getting challanged other than, the oak hills game, and at the classic in the country, thats 3 games out of 20. I mean they play Amelia for goddness sakes.
I like Walnut, but the schedule??? Not good, I just question how it will prepare them for the tournament where they will play a battle tested gcl or gmc team.
I think the rankings look solid in DI, but the lower divisions??? mcnick at #2...someone is asleep at the wheel.
The enquier preview..... i give it a 5 out of 10, players to watch??? no ther players from DI schools??? Those girls would not have those numbers in the gmc, gcl, or favc buckeye.
I agree about Winton's schedule. That could be a detriment for the post season but, I still think they are going to be right there with West and MND at the end.
You're right about the Div II-IV analysis. Not sure who put that together but clearly missed the mark.

I like Mariemont and Seven Hills a lot. I see Mariemont and Seven Hills as 1 and 2 at the end of the year in the II-IV polls. Coach Jones and Coach Werden are both great coaches. And they don't play a watered down schedule either.

I actually think the poll is pretty accurate for this time of the year. I am surprised that people are not giving Oak Hills more respect in this thread. Paschko and Keehan are two studs who are both going to Big East schools next year and there are other players coming back who are very good. I actually think they were the best team last year - they just had one miserable quarter against LW and blew a game they were leading by double digits in the 4th quarter. I would have loved their chances against MND if they would have played them.
The good news is we get to watch the season and see who is best. First games this Saturday!!

By the way, I agree with everyone that the Enquirer is not always the most "accurate" newspaper. However, all they are doing here is counting votes - the paper is not deciding the rankings, the coaches are. Any beef with the rankings goes to the coaches.

The top 10 makes sense but the others receiving votes is a joke. Why list them. Most of those teams haven't won more than 5 games a year for a few years but yet they are getting votes. Just means the coach is voting so it makes it look like they are in the top 20 of the city.

I question the same thing. But, the season will seperate the contenders from the pretenders.
