i believe i was right at the beginning when i said...we may not win more that a game in the GCL South....unless we can win at the pit..doubtful against a far superior team..and at moeller with another team who is just better....i believe last night will also answer the question to why nobody supports the basketball team as welll as they used to

This is the only part I have an issue with. The basketball team deserves the support of the student body, even in down years.

You guys should be ashamed of yourself! You egotistical little whiney children, go have your Mothers wipe your nose!

The basketball team is 14 –4 with loses coming from some of the top teams in the State, Elder, Alter, Moeller and even LaSalle. Do you have any idea how many teams would love to say that? Do you know how many parents would love for their son’s or daughter’s team to be in the same position?

Think about this, you could be number 4 in the GCL-S and still be in the top 6 in the State. WHAT’S WRONG WITH THAT? Maybe we should change the school motto to “if we’re not number one - we suck!” Or maybe this would be more appropriate, if we can’t be number one, we won’t support the team!

Yea I feel better!

Ok...sweet?

Anyone know the last time any St. X team lost 4 at home in one season? People wonder why no one wants to go to the games at home, thats why.

this team is just not that good... and we cannot be last in GCL South and top 6 in state. you must really not know what you are talking about..Elder and Moeller are the only GCL S teams in top 5...X and Lasalle could lose to anyone on any given night

stop referring x as "we" or "our team", because you never have and never will go to st. x

the talk on here is unreal.. so what the team doesn't have a johhny wolf.. they go out and play their hardest every Friday night. Some of you guys didn't have high expectations for the team in the first place so you shouldn't be surprised. I have friends on the team so I am going to support them no matter what and it is disturbing that some of the same guys on here talking about the team, joke around and talk to some of the guys on the team at school. Seriously guys, this is pitiful. Support the team because they have no superstars like everyone else they need our support. People fear us, the student section, and we need to live up to that name. Don't down the team, just support them.

Its not that, its just the frosh and soph classes at X refuse to do anything. Honestly, look at the games, they just stand there and twiddle their thumbs like they are at a cross country meet or something. Its a joke.

haha, a little off topic I know, but I've been at plenty of cross country meets where the CC team was louder than our basketball student sections at some games (in years past).

But to get back on topic, freshman and sophomores simply don't know what they are doing and are completely clueless. If you are an underclassman and are reading this, please just trust me. You really don't know what "its all about" until you are a junior or senior (especially a senior). Since underclassman dont really understand what cheering is (among other things) its the seniors' responsibility to tell/show them what to do.

whats a joke is the leadership our senior class shows at bball games. i went to the JV game this past week and their were sophmores actually cheering and helping out the team. the varsity game comes, all the seniors take the front row and do nothing. sophmores and freshman have nothing to do with the lack of school spirit and support the student body has for the bball team. it all lies on the upperclassmen who need to start doing something and get active, here in their last year at st. x

I wouldn't necessarily say all upper classmen because the junior class cheers alot.

Elder game tonight was unreal...best SS all year long. Spread the word that the ability to cheer has been given back to the students. We cant take it too far, but as long as we keep coming to the games, the old lockdown on cheers has been lifted.

seriously, you have no idea what your talking about. im a sophomore and ive done more cheering in my first year and a half at x then atleast half the upperclassmen, i know plenty of sophomores who would form a better bomb squad then the ones we have now

Watch out, we got ourselves a case of sophomore-itis, please...I (a non BS member) invite you to come to the front row tomorrow night and you will see how long you last there. Idiot.

Besides, we all know that 95% of the cheers are started by non-bs members.

The class of '06 needs to return and teach these frosh and sophs what the St. X student section is all about. Send them through student section boot camp, we may lose a few but it will be worth it in the end.

We have no idea what we are talking about? Those of us that supported a St. X team for four years and now still do so in college. You obviously skipped out on home games last season. The 06 class made a student section for the SWIM TEAM! The 07 and 08 classes learned from the best and continue to support the school in a manner that is very respectable.

rofl, I don't think I've ever heard a more stereotypical sophomore.

"Hey, everyone look at me! I'm not a freshman so I think I'm cooler than the upperclasmen!"

I was told in 8th grade at the entrance test that "sophomores are the scum of the earth," and still believe it today (even if that is an exageration). Freshman are idiots, but overall realize they are freshman, and therefore are idiots. However, sophomores, while still mostly being idiots, seem to think that since they are no longer freshman, it MUST mean they are no longer clueless. Sophomores of the world, I have news for you: most of you are still clueless, so get used to it. As a sophomore you may think you know what St. X "is all about", but you don't. Only as a junior do you start to really "get it." By the 2nd semester of your senior year you will finally realize how much the school has given you, and how great the experience was/is. (Ok, well that last part is a little subjective, but thats how I felt.)

...but back to the title of the thread, does anyone else realize if the team can pull off the upset tomorrow (which is VERY possible, we only barely lost to them @ X) they will have the same record in the GCL as last year's team. Just in case some of you hopped off the bandwagon, I'd hop back on before the post season starts.

We are one player short from being as good as the other GCL teams. We justdont have a player with the ability to take over a game when the offense is struggling.

Or the problem is that Martin doesn't know how to use his bench correctly.

The team really did really well last night, IMO. The aspect of the game that killed them was playing the 2-3 zone for a majority of the game. Tabler was getting open looks and hitting everything from behind the arc. I really don't understand why the coaching staff stuck with the zone. Just my observation.

How did he even make the team? had some kids on the JV last year that might have helped this year
