J. Pittman was a good ball player, I used to play with him in college, just pickup games but he was definately a good player for Massillon

Medina Highland

C - Mike Webster '56 (26.7 ppg in 1955-56)
F - John Hatch '54 (1,200+ career points)
F - Rob Wininger '93 (1,800+ career points)
G - Brad Reusch '98 (1,600+ career points)
G - Marvin Farnsworth '53 or maybe Craig Divis ('96?)

In modern times, some candidates are Andrew Bene, Danny Koehler, and Ben Klafczynski

Bene anchored the team for a couple seasons while Koehler had skills in all facets of the game. Klafczynski was an offensive weapon and used way above average athleticism as part of his game.

These 3 from recent history did not play 4 years of Varsity but still left some solid numbers in the Highland record books.

My personal go for Highland....
C - Mike Webster 1956 College?
F-Alassane Kouyate 2002 UMASS (Knee Injuries ended his college career... Transfered to Walsh after soph. year at Highland, still even if you want to say his 10th grade self, he is worthy of this team easily.)
F-Andrew Bene 2005 BW (Doing very well currently at BW...)
G-Brad Reusch 1998 College?
G-Marvin Farnsworth 1953 College?
6th Man
F-Rob Wininger 1993 College?

G-Dan Retherford '65, great pure shooter.would have avgd.in 30's w/3 ball.
G-Todd Kennard- schools all-time leading scorer,never saw a shot he didn't like.
G-F Dave Dunn, really a guard but scored so much, couldn't keep him out.
F- Dayrl Johnson- The most natural player , smooth as silk and could shoot from the corners all night.
C- Bob Timberlake- Better known as all-state QB and All-American QB @ Michigan, Was the nucleus of what may have been the best team ever @ Franklin.
6th man-Paul Smith Great leader and pure shooter.

You got that right about Kennard.....

Henninger is so far from being in any Jackson top five you must be kidding me. I know there are others you could pick besides Josh but sure is not Jon Mark. We will see when he finishes if he gets any kind of coaching.

I'd definitely try to fit Duke Pierce into that starting 5, TS. Grimm & Mario Edwards would be on my Massillon starting 5 as well. They also had other great players over the years. Bill Blunt comes to mind as well as a tall blonde-haired post player by the name of Westover (Brian I think???).

D ick Gerber was another big beefy post player that gave Nick Vrotsis (sp?) a LOT of solid play in his career. Later there was a Shegog brother (can't remember which) that was a VERY good point guard.

Hope that helps.

Here are a list of some good players from Tuslaw, alot of them are more recent. Maybe someone with a little more knowledge of Tuslaw's history could help me out though!

G Jim Kurzen - great guard who went to Western Michigan and played in an NCAA sweet sixteen, currently teaches at Tuslaw and coaches baseball
G Fred Neil - one of the all-time leading scorers
F Dave Kurzen - Over 1,000 career points 3 year starter, son of Jim Kurzen/All Ohio
F Tyler Travis - Over 1,000 career points
G Craig Bennington - transferred to Tuslaw for senior season/All Ohio
F Ryan Travis - 993 career points, 3 year starter, currently at West Liberty for football

Kevin Hewit was the best pure point guard I've seen. He was always overlooked because he spent his entire career in the same backcourt as Freddy Neil.

you may be too young to remember 6'7 big man late '60s. Very strong around the basket, Ed Kovacs. I remember a very unusual game that Fenwick played against Holy Cross from N. Ky. on a Sun.Afternoon @ Fenwick. Holy Cross started 5 Left Handed Players. I had never seen it before or since.

F: Dave Demko
F: Rudy Kirbus
SG: Joe Rey
PG: Rashaun Benton

My bench would consist of guys like Ryan Stilphen, Terry Walsh, Tim Vala, T.J. McHugh, Pete Fox, Tony DeCesare, Mike Roberts.
