All 13 wrestlers made it through to the second day of the district tournament. I was able to watch most of the matches. I will give as many details as I can recall. If I am wrong about something, correct me please. The comets are looking good!

103 - Ruben Victoria wrestles a tough first round match, reverses Greg Suer from Elder in the 4th sudden death overtime. Ref not only ignores the reversal but awards Suer back points for the win! Victoria comes back in first round of consolation matches and wins. He will wrestle first thing tomorrow in the next conso round. Suer gets pinned second round and is in the consos as well.

112 - Brian Luria wins his first round match, then drops a close one to Daniels of Elder. He will begin his wrestle backs in consos tomorrow.

119 - Fayez Jamous loses first round to a tough Patrick Campbell of Anderson. Comes out in first round of consos and pins his kid.

125 - Christian Gonzalez! Gonzo is wrestling very well. Won his first match and then beat Meyers from Glen Este in the second round. He remains in championship rounds, if he wins first match tomorrow he goes to state!

130- Jesse Gorsek lost his first match, don't know opponent. Comes back in consos and wins to stay in it.

135 - Brendan Flannery wins his first match and gives his second round opponent state placer Jake Sage of Kettering Fairmont a battle. (Sage started the year at 152.) Flannery will begin his wrestle backs tomorrow.

140- Robert Shepherd wins his first match (a rematch of his GMC final with Andrew Globke), but not before he gets taken down. ( OOPS! We don't see that often.) Shep cleans up his act, tightens his form and tech falls his next opponent. A win against Lakota West's Craig McIntire in the first Championship round assures a return trip to Columbus.

145 - Kyle McIntyre - Tears through his first two opponents. I think he wrestles Giffin from Harrison first tomorrow. Regardless of his opponent a first match win tomorrow sends him to the big show.

152 - Eoin Walden - Wins his first match, then comes up against a hammer in the second round. He will begin his wrestle backs tomorrow.

160 - Aaron Walden - I don't know what they are feeding this kid, but whatever it is we need to get some for the whole team. He is on fire! Wins his first round with a pin after being down by at least 5 points at one time. Comes out and dominates his second round opponent as well! Score was close but not the action. He too could be planning his trip to Columbus with a win first thing tomorrow!

171 - Kyle Searer - wins his first round match, through patience and persistence. He just kept coming at the kid, till he wore him down. Loses a close one in OT in the second round, but is wrestling really well. He is definitely still in the hunt.

189 - Andy Porter - 6 takedowns, 2 three point nearfalls, and an escape, Andy Porter scores a tech fall in the first round!!! Stuns the crowd and leaves us all with time on our hands since he didn't go in to overtime! :) Not one to disappoint his fans, Andy takes his next match against Princeton's Jeremy Stepp down to the last minute and wins 2 -1. Once everyone's heart rate returned to normal, we all agreed it was a great match. A win in the first round tomorrow sends Andy packing his bags as well.

215 - Maison Kana - Wrestles a great first round match. He is tough on the top position. He put in the boots and stretched that poor boy in all different directions. He lost a close match in the second round to Gordon of Fairfield, 5 -3. (Gordon is the number 1 ranked 215 in the Cinci area.)

Currently Mason is in 3rd behind Moeller and Elder. We were less than a point from Elder going into first round of consos and then all three wrestlers won, and two scored bonus. We were 6 + points behind Moeller going into the Consos. Elder had a few kids in consos, Moeller had one or two.

Tomorrow is going to be a battle with some great match ups for the comets. Currently on track to get at least 5 out, but we have to keep up the momentum. That number could easily go higher, it will come down to who wants it more and who is in the best condition. Hopefully, the comets will come out with guns blazing tomorrow.

congrats to mason's 6 state qualifiers- christian gonzalez, brenden flannery, robert sheppard, kyle mcintyre, aaron walden, and andy porter. im proud of all of you guys and i cant wait to watch you all wrestle at the show next weekend

I don't have all the details, missed quite a few matches waiting arguing with the subway lady over lettuce.
Overall the team wrestled very well. 6 to state is a school record.
Victoria wins first conso and loses second.
Luria wins first conso and loses second
Fayez wins first conso and loses second
Gonzalez loses his semi match to Weiskettel very close match, wrestles back and wins his go to. (Which I missed because of Subway!) Meets a very tough McSorley in the 3rd/4th place match. Wrestles very well but comes up short. Still going to Columbus!
Gorsek loses his first round conso
Flannery wins his way through the wrestle backs, avenges last weekend's loss to Burgdorf from Milford in the go to match. Comes up 2 points short of a win in the 3rd/4th place match against State placer (4th) Jake Sage. Interesting, Flannery defeats Kocol and Burgdorf both wrestlers took defaults rather than face Ty Davis thinking they would have a better chance of getting out. Flannery kept it from happening for both of them.
Shepherd had a bad meet, didn't wrestle well but still won. Meets Craig McIntire from west in the semis, he scores early by capitalizing on a bad shot by Shep, as he was trying to force the action. McIntire stalls the entire match, does not take one shot in 6 minutes. Shep pushes his around the mat for 5 minutes and finally refs call stalling. 20 seconds later they call it again to tie up the match. In OT when McIntire has to wrestle, Shep hits him with the firemans in 15 seconds to win it. He then faces Pressley from Harrison in the finals. One ref tells Harrison coach Pressley needs to get moving or he will get hit with stalling, coach tells him, nope this is our plan. Again when they get to OT and the kid has to wrestle shep takes him down quickly for the win.
McIntyre wrestles tough all weekend easily wins his semi final against Menker of Centerville to go to Columbus. Wrestles hard in the finals and was tied in the match vs Giffen of Harrison. Chooses down in the 3rd period (not a good choice against Giffen or in general any of the Harrison wrestlers. Giffen ends up winning with a pin. Different day, different choice and Kyle wins. He is just a sophomore! He is looking tough! Showed great maturity and class shaking everyone's hand after the match, waiting while Tyler and his coaches celebrated to shake the coaches hands.
Eoin Walden he won his first conso lost his second. (No details - Subway)
Aaron Walden loses his semi final to Charles Mason of Princeton (who won the district) and then wrestles back beating Hall of Middletown in his go to, clearly dominating the match, which was good, because we the crowd had just survived the nail biter by Flannery and we couldn't take much more! He meets up Harrison's CJ Rivera in the 3rd/4th match. Wrestles well but loses when he takes the down position. (never a good idea vs. Harrison) Funny thing is when they are lined up before the match to do the group "shake hands" and introductions, Rivera looks across the mat and you see him turn to the guy next to him and say "who is this guy?" At the Harrison dual, Walden had lost his wrestle off, and wasn't in the line up. Now a month later he is going to state!!!!
Searer lost his second round conso 1-0 against kid from Troy. Kyle has wrestled so well the past few weeks, it was all coming together for him.
Porter wrestles a "Battle Royale" against eventual champion Nick Miller, Miller scores a take down in the last few seconds to win it, but it was a great match. He then beats Pedro Powell of Lakota East (again) in the go to match. 5 -3 hitting two beautiful takedowns, and dominating the match. That makes 6 to state! His 3rd/4th match is against Jeremy Stepp of Princeton (again) It goes into OT (again) Andy gets a takedown to win it. (Again!) Everyone is able to breath. (again)
Kana what a great 3 weeks this has been. All I can say is man we wish he had come back 3 weeks earlier. He won his first conso, and then falls short to Nueskabel of Elder. He wrestled very well and was just fun to watch. He had a very tough weight class with 3 of the top 10 wrestlers in the state in it.

Officiating in general was awful, fans from certain teams were obnoxious, day was tense and exhausting. Pretty much what you would expect from a district tournament.
