Thank you. I was only concentrating on the Championship events. However, I did mentally note across Ohio athletes in the Emerging Elite, Freshmen, and Rising Stars divisions.

Perry's Brayden Richards won the Adidas Nationals Decathlong championship with 7042 points! #4 All-time according to Ohio MileSplit (I don't yet have a list together to confirm or deny). Outstanding job by a junior.

Olmsted Falls girls had a very successful NB National Meet…they ran a 4 x mile relay, a DMR, and Katie Clute in the 2 mile.

On Thursday their 4 x mile unit of Sam Goodnough, Aubrey Prada, Rachel Delap, and Katie Clute ran to an All-American 5th place finish. They clocked 21:03.15 for the 4 miles. That converts to a sub 21:00 4 x 1600, for us Ohioans used to such distances. It converts to a 20:55.80 4 x 1600 to be exact.

As already reported by Javman, the next day Katie Clute ran the fastest time in Ohio HS history, clocking 10:09.97. There was a clock en route at the 3000 meter mark and her 9:28.24 was also the fastest Ohio has ever seen for 3000. There was evidently no clock at 3200 but her converted time for 3200 was 10:06.43, which also would have been the fastest ever recorded for an Ohioan.

Their third entry of the meet was the DMR. They clocked 11:57.39 placing 7th, missing the 6th and final All-American spot by less than 2 seconds. The team of Sam Goodnough (1200), Megan Mahaffey (400), Aubrey Prada (800), and Katie Clute (1600) broke the magic 12:00 barrier. Clute had the fastest 1600 split of all anchor runners at 4:45 (in her third race of the meet) and leadoff runner Sam Goodnough absolutely smoked the 1200 leg, running 4:48 1600 pace (3:37) to give the Bulldogs great position right off the bat.

Javman, Those two relay times are outstanding but I’m not sure just how outstanding relative to Ohio history. I realize you haven’t compiled a relay list yet, and I may be way off in asking this, but do you think those two relay times may have a shot at making your eventual lists? If not, let me down easy…haha…

Both relay times more than likely in the top 20 based on cursory info I have pulled together.
EDIT (6:30am - 23 June) - I've changed the likely ranking spots from top 10 to top 20.

I was sad they didn't have a clock at the 3200m mark. Although she most assuredly crossed the 3200m mark faster than any other girl in Ohio HS history (that is unquestionable), all records must have a clock at the exact location where the athlete crossed that distance. Hers would convert to a 10:06.44 3200m under standard 0.9942 multiplication factor. This would most assuredly be no more than 0.1-0.2 off her actual time had there been a clock. She ran a metronome of a race.

EDIT (6:50am - 23 June) - I'm disappointed to see that NBNO's timing crew, PrimeTime, is not so "primetime". I haven't seen any splits for the 4xMile, unlike their previous timing company, FlashResults, had produced prior to the switch to Franklin Field. Very disappointing.

I had just started compiling girls' 4x16/4xMile results this evening after spending most of the week compiling guys' relay marks. Coincidence that you should bring this up.

Request for info from the community: Was the Turpin quartet of Melanie Price (12), Carolyn Rauen (11), Corey Randall (12), Olivia Jaworek (10) that ran at Adidas nationals in 2003 the same that ran 20:44.22 (4x1600m) to win the Roosevelt Memorial earlier that season?

So Javman…does it look like the 20:44 run by Turpin in 2003 is the Ohio girls record for 4 x 1600?

Never mind Javman…I just saw your updated all-time lists. It appears for a straight 4 x 1600 (not a 4 x mile converted) Turpin does indeed have the record.

For a clock actually on the 4x1600m line...yes. However, Granville's 20:34.01 over the longer 4xMile at the 2018 New Balance Outdoor and Hilliard Davidson's 20:36.50 over the same at the 2019 version are obviously faster by 17+ & 14+ seconds, respectively.

This year, I've begun serious work on the odd event relays. The running events are a bit easier than the field event relays as Track & Field News keeps records for certain relays, making historical research a bit easier. However, for the field events, they don't keep 2 or 3-man/woman relay stats. Those I'm going to have to do by BRUTE FORCE research.

So, in the past month I've been collecting names of relay meets of the past that had nice long runs where data is more readily available. Also of help is Craig Whitmore's listings as a starter. This past week, I began a compilation of results of the old Ohio Wesleyan Relays which ran from 1932-1961. Many great marks came out of that meet. This will take awhile to put together decent lists, but I'm down for it.

Awesome. I guess I just haven’t been paying attention over the last few months, but did you put out an Ohio boys All-Time record list like you did for girls? Same for individual events as you did for girls?

Javman…do you have any data on the DMR?
No...it's on my list this year. I know Beaumont ran 11:45.82 back in '02 at Adidas Nationals. I think 12:30 is going to be my cut-off for the ladies, and 10:30 for the guys. Very preliminary stuff. I did run into a whole tranche of new data this weekend by accident (old Track Newsletters by T&FN that have been posted online). Whole year of issues from '75-'79, as well as some others. Lots of data to sort through.

Thank you! Our girls ran 11:57 at Nationals last year with a 67 quarter leg! Missed All-American by a second or so.. (Ouch)…In defense of the girl who ran the 400 leg, she volunteered to run when none of our quarter-milers could go. Without her, we wouldn’t have gone. She had been running the 100 hurdles, long jumping and high jumping during the season so the 400 was a new and scary experience for her. Like the trooper she is, when she got the baton she took off with all the “real” quarter-milers and was looking great for 200 meters until out of nowhere and with no warning a piano appeared on her back..haha. We lost as much as 10 seconds on that one lap but we still managed to just miss the final AA spot. Another few yards and Clute would have been there.
