The comets beat Moeller 267.5 to 262 at the sectional tournament today AT MOELLER. Mason advances 13, Moeller 12. Sectional Champs:
Robert Shepherd pins Lakota East's Mohammadi to win his 4th Sectional Title
Kyle McIntyre gets the revenge win against Moeller's Blum
Aaron Walden beats some guy from Moeller in a big win that puts us ahead in the score race
Andy Porter beats Lakota East to seal the deal, Moeller can't win it at this point and the comets go wild led by Coach Murnan. I will post more details later. The comets won, no excuses, no wait till next year, and no doubt.

Sorry for the delay, had to go out and celebrate. Here is a breakdown:
103 Ruben Victoria pins in first match to start a series of first round pins and wins. He loses his second round match to eventual runner up Corey Colinger. Fights back to take 3rd.

112 Brian Luria continues the first round pinning streak. He continues to win his way to the finals losing to Stephen Myers. Luria frustrates both Myers and the Moeller faithful when he simply refuses to be put on his back. Luria keeps Moeller from earning pin points.

119 Fayez Jamous steps in and wins his first round match, he loses second and then battles for an overtime win to place third.

125 Christian Gonzalez looks tough the entire day, just being edged out in the finals by Jake Corrill, once again, Moeller is denied what they considered guaranteed pin points.

130 Jesse Gorsek wins first round, then loses to Ryan Miller of Lakota East in the second. He battles back to place third. He just keeps getting tougher in the top position.

135 Brendan Flannery wins his way to the finals, losing to Quinn of Milford, 3 -1, Quinn is awarded a sketchy takedown early in the match and then stalls his way to the end. Flannery continues to improve and looked very good today.

140- Robert Shepherd pin, tech fall, pin gets him his fourth sectional championship.

145 - Kyle McIntyre, wins his way through the tournament, beating Moeller's Blum in the finals. Blum tried everything in the book to turn Mac with no luck. Kyle pulled it all together today.

152 Eoin Walden wins his first loses second and battles back to place third by pinning his opponent and earning those bonus points we needed. At this point team is still trailing Moe, but we are closing the gap.

160 Aaron Walden came to wrestle!!!! He wins his way through the tournament wrestling smart he records a major decision in the finals to pull the team ahead of Moeller.

171 Kyle Searer keeps getting better. He wins his first round match by pin. He lost in the second round but battles back for 3rd place keeping the Mason score above Moellers

189 Andy Porter wins his way to the finals, and then wins his final in true Andy style, ahead by one, he scores a last second take down. This seals the deal for the comets and they go crazy! Moeller has no one left on the mat, and can't score any more points.

215 Maison Kana walks into sectionals with a 2 and 2 record and wins his way to the finals. He loses a heartbreaker 3 -2 which included a BS locking hands call. Ultimately placing second.

HVY Danielle Tedoldi steps up and gains weight during the week to make the heavyweight minimum requirement to help the team. He wins his first match, then loses his second. He wrestles tough, but comes up ten seconds short in his go to match. Continues on the place 6th, but this was by far the best wrestling he has done all season.

In case you didn't catch that, every Mason wrestler won in the first round, most of them by pin. We took it on the chin in the second round but battled back to get 13 of 14 boys qualified for districts.

Overall a very good day. Looking forward to an exciting district tournament at Fairfield next weekend.

Great job comets!!
