Dublin Coffman 2024

One of the best week's of the sports calendar with the draft , and full NBA and NHL play-offs starting with both leagues having 8 series going on. NBA saw some great competitive action with 2 games being decided in the final possession and some epic meltdowns by the road teams. Like early in the NCAA tournament, the NBA first half UNDERS have bene in a great run, at one point 14-2-1 and the UNDER overall coming in at a high percentage. Lines have been adjusted at this point, as teams playing with more defensive urgency overall and the refs seem to be letting them play even more than usual at this point. Another trend that has bene taken advantage of is the home teams up 1-0 are on a 33-7 run straight up that has bene added to 28-12 ATS and the UNDER is also a solid 23-16 in these game 2's.

Home teams got off to a hot start in the NHL as well as at omen point the home teams since the start of the play-offs in Pucks and baskets were 16-1. Very little information has been leaked this year leading up to the NFL draft and there as always has been lying posturing and misdirection plays trying to position yourself better . Teams leak less than desirable things about players to mislead and influence what other teams may do and they also overhype some to try to get leverage if a trade is in the works .

Two weeks ago you got a fair vig with Daniels as the second pick . Now it’s -450 .
Feel good about that at this point and also TE Bowers whose draft number opened at 16.5 . UNDER was a great value and should be fine . Tennessee needs an offensive tackle badly but also a receiver . Or wants a receiver . In terms of first round successes and bust rates in recent history the receiver / Tight end positions have the lowest success rates (. 25 percent ) . Receivers are tough to resist for teams . It’s a flashy shiny toy. But they can be divas , they can be fast and big and can jump. But being coachable , not entitled and having a strong work ethic along with handling failure is a more tricky thing to gauge. Most of the top picks with the highest ability levels haven’t failed and deal with not just being better than their opponents. The top receivers at this time are not all 1st round picks at all . Jefferson was a 1st rounder but was the 6th WR taken in that round . He’s the best guy from that class . Tyreek Hill 5th round . Cooper Cupp 3rd round . Emerging Lions star St Brown was a 4th rounder . Tennessee should and I took a position on them taking an offensive tackle ( and another on specifically Alt ) The Giants truly need a WR and will take one with their first pick most likely .

Harrison at 4.5 was enticing because he’d really is as safe a pick as there is at WR and shouldn’t be still there after Arizona picks . Nabors by actually working out has closed the gap and I suppose he could leapfrog Marvin . Harrison is a stud obviously but he is also not a diva and is a great technician with a very strong work ethic and will be as close as there is to a sure thing as there is .

Season ( camp ) is a few months away now and Rocks with a Senior class that has only had Stokes as the head varsity coach are totally immersed in the culture and work as hard as anyone. Team will have some size and strength and will be able to win some games doing what they do as they like to say . What they have been doing is shortening games , by running more and using the clock . QB running is a huge part of this many weeks . The QB situation is the X -factor. They can run 12 personnel a nice percentage of the time with two bigger strong TE’s (. Werling, Patterson ) a three year starter at RB with two 3 year guys on the Oline and that could be enough to win a few games on the schedule by itself . Of course one of those TE’s could be used as O Lineman (. Werling did play some snaps due to injury ) or even D-Line to add some needed size . Three year starter at receiver and the teams best playmaker Hudson was a QB as a younger player including Frosh year . Packages for him at that position could help in some situations but the receiver stable isn’t what it has been for much of the last 20 years . Stokes hasn’t had the same depth of skill guys Crabtree had most years in his two decade stint . 7-3 is doable again for the third straight season . They play some good QB’s some with a lot of experience . The defensive coaches will have to be at their best as they lost a handful of key players and are rebuilding a bit on that side no doubt . Look for at least situationally for a few guys to play on both sides

Shoot....I was looking for some live, pick by pick analysis. I don't think these clowns on ESPN know what they are talking about. Maybe in the morning we will get a post mortem.

Region 2 looks pretty weak again. I could see Coffman going 6-4 but winning 2-3 playoff games if they are on the opposite side of the bracket from Springfield.

Watkins is the new favorite in R-3 no question. Huge turn of events. Rematch would have been nice. Brewster going down was massive. How is Berlin QB situation looking this year? The big kid going to play LB fulltime?

Speaking of QB's the biggest buzz in a few years in the first handful of picks was Penix going 8 to a team who is off of 3 7 win seasons pic king yet another offensive luxury pick with Penix AFTER committing 100 million guaranteed to 36-year-old Kirk Cousins off of an Achilles injury, and yet they take a son to be 24-year-old guy with an injury history himself? OK you liked Penix so much you had to take him. You knew he would be available at 8 so whey in the holy he(L do you go after Cousins and taking 100 million off of the table the next two years? Atlanta is a model successful franchise of course so well run and uber successful that Coach Bill Belichick wasn't in their top 3 they said to become the new coach . Did I mention three straight 7 win season? They grab Robinson an excellent talent at RB and their production at that position goes down from the year before. Kyle Pitts has been MEH. They needed a DT the most and there were a few on the board. Passed to take a guy who may not play for a few years.

Harbaugh takes the best O-Lineman in the draft as he likes to build from in the inside out and that has bene most successful for him in his coaching career. When he tried to keep up with Ohio State skill wise he failed. Stanford and the 49 Ners and the last few with Michigan it was about being tough and physical up front. Raiders need to get tougher and better up front on offense and they need a couple D-Lineman to better compete with Mahomes and rushing the passer consistently in all their games.. The take a luxury item in Bowers who is a stud but won't protect a average QB and they still won't consistently block people up front week to week. Or be good enough up front on defense. Team building is something some teams do well consistently, and some don't.

Excellent night for us in the draft with player props and position props and one huge NBA fairly predictable position on the Sixers with an all-time collapse against the Knicks who weren't going to go up 3-0 on the Sixers after being a bit lucky in game 2. Sixers JE, HIT his scoring prop easily, but maybe a fade in the next game as he seems to have only so much gas on a nightly basis.

Suns at an open of - 225 on the ML to get one win in the series they probably lose to the T-Wolves in game 3 tonight was a good value as the NBA play-offs have bene pretty solid and profitable. Could a Berlin Watkins dream match-up become a reality? Lets hope so.

Dallas has been playing as well as anyone the last couple months and was a nice winner last night over the perpetually dysfunctional Clippers. Phoenix loses though and can’t handle Minnesota who has their first 3 game playoff win streak in their history . Very impressive .

Michigan and Washington with the most guys taken in the first three rounds. First SEC team(s) since Ohio State in 2016 to have the most . Next year OSU will have gobs if guys taken as we know . Not a bad line Dock . Berlin 38 - Watkins 13 gets you there. 😆 Seems like a reasonable possible outcome at this point.

Kept waiting for a QB to be taken in round 2 and 3. No one in round 2 wasn’t surprising but figured Rattler or Pratt would go in round 3. First time in 30 years no QB was taken in round 2 or 3.

Record number of offensive linemen taken after three rounds (25) . The first 14 picks in round one were offensive players . Quirky draft no question . GB getting that LB when they did ( Cooper. Texas A’M ) and their draft in general gives pause to fading GB season win total under . Young teams ascending like GB did often take a step back for a year before getting back to where they were during the breakout year .

get ready to learn Watkins Memorial, buddy!
Are they saying it was a clerical error or something and contesting it? I assume it's too late to change anything. I was down there last weekend, nice new buildings they have there. Not UA level or anything, but still pretty sweet.

I expect to not know much about the Berlin QB situation until August, I know they liked a freshman who played a few snaps quite a bit for the future, more of a bruising runner type but offense likely look similar. Cant imagine all-st LB also playing all the snaps at QB unless an emergency like last year. That's asking a lot.

Much more interested in the Tangy QB situation and whether or not any of these Day transfer rumors are actually true. Interestingly, Berlin will see him either way as they open season with DeSales and close with Tangy (which is a new schedule wrinkle this year I think everyone loves).

Berlin will have to prepare for young Day either way . A guy texted me that he thought he saw coach Day indicate something might be up in terms of his son going to his local HS at the Ohio coaches clinic in February . Think it would have happened by now it seems. Rules different if you stay transfer to your local HS? Financial hardship transfer off the table. 😆

Recent 7 on 7 get together with a handful of teams [6} was played recently with Bradley , Gahanna Groveport, DeSales , Big Nut and Hartley. Looks like Bradley is going with rising Soph Declan O'Neil, who unfortunately was thrust into the state Semifinal with St Ed's after 3-year starter star QB Fleharty got hurt the week before vs UA. O'Neil acquitted himself pretty well throwing for 100 yards in a most difficult situation. He has a few weapons who saw some action last season, but the Jags look to be in more rebuild mode. Big Nut led by longtime Coffman DC Cutler lost their two stud players Stover and Seivers who led the offense from his RB spot for three years. QB coming back made limited throws and maybe they throw it more without Seivers to give the rock to. BW got off to a bad start but improved a lot and finished pretty strong losing a heartbreaker to Lake in three overtimes in round two of the play-offs.

Gahanna has Ward back for a 4th straight season third as a full season starter. They lost RB Hubbard who made the offense go and opened up some things for the passing game and basically lost 5000 of the 6000 yards of offense from last years club but they pick a baller in Westy C's RB who can also catch the ball Jaden Gwinn who should be a go to cog. Bad loss for WC but a really nice pick-up for the Lions who have a lot of younger talent over there but Gwinn is proven and experienced.

Hartley QB Gulich returns off of a 1110 yard passing season with 9 TD's. Hawks always have some athletic ability to be a good passing team but we know that's not who they are at their core. RB Lathon returns off of a great 1700 yard season with 21 scores. DeSales QB rising Soph Day performed pretty well I was told and was missing a few guys with other sports conflicts. Fellow Olentangy district resident rising Soph Jax Middleton was a target of Day's and he is a pretty good baseball prospect. DeSales has a talented DB and athlete Hood who had a bunch of picks last season.
