A chilli night in Zanesville turned into a hot night for the Newark Catholic football team used a potent offense and a stingy defense in route to a 27-6 win over Bishop Rosecrans. The Greenwave would start early as senior speedster Adam Amornyard (6'1" 165) would take the opening kickoff and return it all the way to the Rosecrans 28. The offense would waste no time in finding pay dirt as strong running senior Brian Campolo (6'0" 195) would blast in from 2 yards out. George Biddle (sr 6'3" 170 k) would hit the 1st of 3 extra points for a 7-0 Greenwave lead with 9:32 left in the opening quarter. With 7:15 left in the 1st quarter and Rosecran facing a 3rd down, Brian Campolo playing defense would lay a crushing hit on Rosecran senior quaterback Jimmy Pitcock (6'2" 180) forcing a punt. The Greenwave offense could get nothing going aginst a gutty Rosecrans defense and had to punt it back. Niether team would get anything going and the quarter would end with the Greenwave out in front 7-0. Rosecrans on a nice pass to senior receiver Danny Trimmer (5'10" 160) from Pitcock would result in a 26 yard score, making the score 7-6 with 7:36 left in the half as the extra point went wide right. With 3:22 left in the quarter Kyle "The Show" Williamson would make his 1st appearance and Rosecrans would pay a little to much attention to him and the Wave would make them pay as senior quarterback Kevin Dolan (5'11" 165)would hit a lightning fast Amornyard for a 60 yard TD pass and with the extra point kick the score would go to 14-6 in favor of the Wave with 3:00 left in the half. With 33 seconds left in the half sophomore Chris Wohlheter (5'11" 165 db) would pick off a Pitcock pass and take it to the house, but a clipping call would bring it back and the half would end. The Greenwave had a 14-6 lead and "uncle mo" on it's side. With 3:46 remaining in the 3rd and Rosecrans driving, senior linebacker seth "Manster" Elliott (6'1" 195) would pick off another Pitcock pass and bring it all the way back to the 45 yard line. The combo of Dolan to Amornyard would strike again, this time on a 34 yard score as Amornyard outran several Rosecrans defenders to the endzone. The point after again was good and just like that the Greenwave would lead 21-6 with 31 seconds remaining in the 3rd. With 11:37 left in the game, junior defensive back Jimmy Hobson (5'10" 155) would get the Greenwave's 3rd interception and return it 30 yards, but the offense would not be able to take advantage and would punt the ball back to Rosecrans. The last score of the night came by the games MVP Adam Amornyard, as he would take hand off and race almost untouched for a 49 yard touchdown and the Wave would win by a 27-6 score.
