At White Field in Newark, Ohio, the Newark Catholic played host to undefeated and state ranked Columbus Ready, a team that in recent years have had the Greenwave's number. This game would be played in a steady rain and a shifting wind causing for terrible footing for both teams. Defense would be in control of this game as only a total of 12 points would be scored. The defense would score one of those as Scotty Lake (6'1") would pick off a Ryan McCarty (sr 5'10" 165) pass and go 45 yards for a Greenwave touchdown. A 2 point try failed and Newark Catholic had a 12-0 lead with 8:57 left in the 3rd. The other score took place in the 2nd quarter as the Wave offense rolled using an injured Kyle "The Show" Williamson (sr 6'1" 205 rb) to get the ball down the field with the help of the offensive line paving the way. Senior running back Bryan Campolo (6'0" 195) would muscle his way in from 2 yards out as the o-line once again opened up a huge hole. The extra point was muffed and with 2:23 left in the 1st half, the Greenwave had a 6-0 lead that they would never give up. The hit of the game was provided by Damon Buchanan (6'0" 175 db) on Syl Eddy (5'10" 170), a hit that was heard thourghout the stadium and felt by all. Buchanan making his return from a injury played like a hungry dog the whole game.
