Newark Catholic defeats Lancaster Fisher Catholic 46-13

THE KYLE WILLIAMSON SHOW

On a great night for football with the grill cooking those great Newark Catholic burgers, the Greenwave of Newark Catholic unleashed a monster named Kyle Williamson on the Irish from Lancaster.

Newark Catholic would win the toss and decide to take the ball and on the first play of the game, first year starting quarterback Kevin Dolan (sr 5'11" 165) would drop back to pass and find a wide open Adam Amonyard (sr 6'1" 165) streaking down the sideline. The result was a touchdown but the extra point was no good and before the crowd could get seated the green wave led 6-0 with 11:41 left in the 1st quarter.

Newark Catholic would punt the next time they had the ball and what a punt it was by big Brad Petticrew (6'0" 245). Damon Buchanan (sr 6'0" 175) had a monster hit on the punt which was fumbled by Fisher and recoverd by the home team. Bryan Campolo (6'1" 195) was credited with the recovery. The wave could not score and would punt the ball back to Fisher Catholic.

Defense would take over for both teams as punts would be exchanged. On the Fisher Catholic punt Adam Amonyard would have a touchdown called back by a clipping call. This would only delay the scoring as Kyle Williamson would score the first of his five touchdowns on a great 25 yard run up the middle plowing into the endzone. The two point try was no good and with 2:04 left in the 1st, the Greenwave had a 12-0 lead.

Fisher would start the 2nd quarter finishing a drive that was started late in the 1st quater. Tony Miller (sr 5'10" 180 rb) would score from 18 yards out on a nice run. After Mike Romano hit the extra point, the score would be 12-7 with 10 minutes left in the half.

The Greenwave would get the ball back and with "uncle mo" on Fisher Catholic's side. They would put togather another scoring drive that would end when Kyle (all state) Williamson scored from five yards out. The extra point kick was blocked and the score was 18-7 with 4:40 left in the half.

Fisher would come out and get right back in the game as they would score on a nice 64 yard catch and run by Bo Clum (jr 5'10" 160) from quarteback Mike Ramano. A two point try was no good and with a 3:01 left in the half, Fisher had pulled closer to trail 18-13.

Newark Catholic would come out a new team in the 2nd half and it would show as the defense would shut Fisher out and the offense led behind Williamson would score at will.

The first score for Newark Catholic would come when Dolan would hit Williamson for a 19 yard td pass and George Biddle (jr 6'3" 170)would hit the first of four extra points. Newark Catholic led 25-13 with 7:58 remaining in the 3rd.

The next score for the Greenwave came withh 5:53 left in the 3rd as Williamson would cruise in from 44 yards out, Newark Catholic now led 32-13. The Greenwave would not take long to score after Fisher would go three and out. This time Williamson would score from 25 yards out and with 2:50 left in the 3rd the Wave had a 39-13 lead. The 3rd quarter would finally end for Fisher.

The 4th period was played by the second and third string team from Newark Catholic but they to would get into the scoring act as little used running back Shane Smith (jr 5'9" 160) would use some nice moves to score on a 25 yard run making the score 46-13.

The Wave led behind George Biddle at quarterback could have scored another touchdown but a very classy move by Coach Buchanan had his team take a knee twice to end the game from inside the five.
