Newark Catholic 44 Campbell Memorial 20 On homecoming night the Green Wave put a old fashion back wood beating on visiting Campbell Memorial. Campbell Memorial would strike 1st as sophomore Rick Quint threw a beautiful pass to talented receiver Terrell Harris who beat two Newark Catholic defenders for a 31 yard td. Quinn would add the point after and with 9:36 left in the 1st the score was 7-0. With 3:46 left in the 1st, Campbell's defense would come up big picking off a Kevin Dolan pass but the Greenwave defense, who spent over 8 minutes on the field in the quarter, would stop any more damage from being done. The quarter would end with Campbell up 7-0. The highlight of the quarter for the Greenwave was Kyle "The Show" Williamson going over a 1000 yards. Campbell was again driving in the 2nd quarter when Scotty Lake would recover a fumble by Rick Quinn caused by a sack. With 7:23 left before halftime the Wave was about to get things rolling. Williamson would score the 1st of 4 touchdowns from 23 yards out but kicker George Biddle would miss the extra point leaving the score at 7-6 Campbell with 5:24 remaining in the half. The next Newark Catholic score would be set up by senior Adam Amornyard's 44 yard punt return. The Greenwave offense would hit pay dirt for the second time with 21 seconds left in the half as Williamson would score from 3 yards out. The Greenwave would convert a 2 point pass play when a wide open Amornyard would catch a nice pass thrown by Dolan giving the Greenwave a 14-7 lead. There would be only 1 score in the 3rd as both defenses played it's best ball of the night. Kevin Dolan would avoid what looked to be a sack by Campbell's defense and find a wide open Amornyard for a 9 yard td. After a biddle extra point the Greenwave had a 21-7 lead going into the 4th. There would be 36 points scored in the quarter as both teams cranked it up a few levels. Senior 220 pound running back Mike Harden would bully his way in from 1 yard out and after Quinn's extra point the score was 21-14 with 11:15 to go. A bad pitch by quarterback Quinn caused by a nice play by Biddle led to a safety when Scotty Lake helped tackle Harden in the endzone giving Newark Catholic a 23-14 lead with 9:28 to go. "The Show" Williamson was at it again first he would return the free kick all he way to the Red Devils 35. Moments later, as the offensive line cleaned house, Williamson would boot, scoot, and boogie for a 29 yard td and another Biddle extra point made the score 30-14 Newark Catholic with 7:56 left in the game. With 6:59 to go, Albert Holland would jet in from 10 yards out pulling the Red Devils to within 30-20 as a 2 point try failed. Williamson, behind another sensational job by the offensive line, would score his 4th and final td. After the Biddle extra point, the Greenwave had a 37-20 lead with only 4:49 to go in the game. The Red Devils facing 4th and 31 decided to go for it and ended up turning the ball over at their own 14. Newark Catholic's 2nd string offense would get a shot at the Red Devil's 1st string defense. With a great run by sophomore Stephen McDonald which ended with a spining move and a trip to the endzone for 6 more Greenwave points. Biddle would add the last point of the game with his best kick of the night and the score was 44-20. The game would end when Mr.McDonald would lay a Seth Elliott type hit on Terrel Davis....
