Division 6 State Final This was a rematch of last years D-6 championship a game that Marion Local won 54-0. A game that the wildcats of Mogadore wanted to forget and Local couldn't. Mogadore a team that has a awesome running game would make a quick mistake with the passing game when quarterback Charley Molnar would miss an wide open receiver by 5 yards and the ball would be caught by Marion Local's Brent Homan who would go untouched for a touchdown, after Kris Shannon hit the extra point the score was 7-0 with 11.09 left in the opening quarter. Marion Local would score 3 more touchdowns in the 1st quarter putting the game away early. The 1st of the next 3 touchdowns would be scored by Cole Dahlinghaus on a nice pass from Chad Otte with the extra point the Flyers were up 14-0. The flyers would score again with 3.47 left in the quarter when Otte would hit Craig Wolters for a 25 yard touchdown. The extra point was again good making the score 21-0 Otte would again hit Wolters for another score with 34 seconds left in the quarter making the score 28 nothing, after the extra point. Mogadore would score when all everything Tommy Lee would go 29 yards and after the extra point the Wildcats had pulled to 28-7 with 7.27 left in the half. There would be no more scoring in the half, as the Wildcats defense seem to gain confidence but the offense could not do much as they had no luck trying to throw the ball .Lee and senior back Jon Raddish did have success running the ball, but never seemed to get it enough to get in a good grove. With 10.41 left in the 3rd Mogadore would make another mistake when a fumble occurred on a punt return and Kevin Moeller would recover it ,as every bounce of the ball along with all the good luck in the world would go to the Flyers. Mogadore's defense would still have momentum from a good 2nd quarter and it showed when Greg Lawrentz step in front of a pass and picked it off, with 9.24 still remaining in the quarter. The luck and momentum looked as it might being turning the Wildcats way. Marion Local would put to rest of any comeback by the Wildcats as they would score 4 touchdowns in the next 6.25 seconds. The 1st of the 4 scores would come from Moeller on a nice pass form Otte on a 20 yard pass. The next score would come from the Flyers defense as Mick Bollenbacher fell on a fumble in the end zone by quarterback Charley Molnar, who played what was the worse game of his life. The 3rd of the 4 scores would come from Greg Schulze who scampered in from 7 yard out. The 4th and final score of the 3rd quarter would come from the defense as they picked off another terrible throw by Wildcat quarterback Molnar and returned it 31 yards making the score 56-7. The 4th quarter would have only one score and that would be by the Flyers on a 10yard play by Dan Otte making the score 63-7 as the extra point was good. newarkcatholicfan |
