Circleville,Ohio--- The Logan Elm Braves played host to the Unioto Shermans in week one high school football action. The Braves seemed to have everything in tact despite losing much of there starters on both sides of the ball, including all-state tailback Matt Colopy.On the other sideline the shermans seemed to be in a bit of a rebuilding phase.Logan Elm got off to an early start when quarterback Bobby Stevens connected with Brandon Eveland on a 57 yard touchdown pass, but the play would be called back due to an illegal man down field penalty.The Braves finally hit pay dirt with 8:17 left in the first quarter on a 6 yard gallop by senior tailback Nate McGuire.They missed the insuing point after attemp.LE struck again late in the first quarter when senior quarterback Bobby Stevens called his own number and raced down the sideline for a 20 yard touchdown.The braves again missed the PAT. At the end of the first quarter the score was LE 12 Unioto 0. Logan Elm came out and held Unioto at the start of the second frame.They then drove the ball down the field and Stevens connected with senior wideout Brandon Eveland on a 26 yard touchdown pass.The PAT was good moving the score to 20 to 0 . Three plays later Unioto quarterback Shifko threw an interception to LE cornerback Ryan Rowland who then returned it 30 yards for the score.That brought the half to an end with Logan Elm leading Unioto 26-0. Third quarter action again showed Unioto moving the ball little.The Shermans nailed a punt that put the Braves back against the door at their own 4.Logan Elm pounded their way down field highlighted by 39 yard run by Stevens and then capped off with a 6 yard scamper by tailback Nate McGuire for the score.The PAT was good leaving the score at 33-0 through 3 quarters. The fourth quarter brung an oppertunity for the young players to get some action on the field.The Braves backup tailback Jeremiah Brown scored on a 34 yard touchdown run to end the games scoring with 10:17 left in the game.The Braves rolled on to a 40-0 victory over the Shermans from Unioto.
