Kenton handles Defiance 35-21

Kenton ended Defiance's regular season winning streak at 18 at Kenton's Robinson Field. Defiance had won 20 of their last 21, as well.

The game started off well for Defiance, as they controlled the first quarter. Defiance took the kickoff and drove 60 yards for an Eric Steyer 10-yard TD run. Kenton had some key penalties which helped the drive. After holding Kenton to a 3 and out, Defiance drove the field again and scored on a 15-yard Austin Keel TD run just after the 2nd quarter started to make it 14-0. Defiance had controlled the ball for 12 of the first 13 minutes, which was key to their hopes of winning, but it was all Kenton after that.

Ben Mauk finally got the Wildcats started on their next possession throwing a 40-yard TD pass to Brandon Cornell. A short TD pass to Cornell before half made it 14-14. Kenton was starting to take over in the trenches, and Defiance managed to minimize the Kenton attack by holding them scoreless as Kenton threatened again right before halftime.

In the 2nd half, Kenton picked up where they left off. Mauk threw 3 more TD passes, one to Billy Cozad, one to Tommy Pettit, and one to Cornell, as they built a 35-14 lead while the Defiance offense stalled. Defiance managed to drive for a final TD, after the game was already decided, with a minute left in the game.
