This was game three at Canton McKinley High School and it was another good one. The name of this game was defense and both teams played hard all game long, in the end the best team won. There would be no scoring until a 27 yard field goal by Glen Oak's sophomore kicker Jason Giannini (5'7" 150). That would be all the scoring in the 1st half with a total of yards for Glen Oak of 221 and Mentor had 78. The second half, both defenses played great, not allowing either offense to get near the other teams goal until the 4th quater. A sensational run by Ray(Mr. 1st Down)Friesbee, a 6'0" 220 pound junior, who showed speed that no one in the crowd knew he had. He finished the run with a nice dive into the endzone. After the extra point kick, the score would be 10-0 with 10:52 left in the game. Mentor's offense avoided the shut out with a 32 yard field goal by Jeremy Sargent (jr 6'2" 180) with 8:37 left in the game. Mentor's defense played it's heart out, but the offense kept shooting itself in the foot. Glen Oak can thank good luck, Friesbee, and a very tuff defense for it's good furtune. newarkcatholicfan |
