DOVER PICKS UP HUGE WIN OVER COSHOCTON The Dover defense limited Ohio's third ranked Division IV Coshocton Redskins to just 140 total yards of offense in picking up a huge 26-7 East Central Ohio League victory on Friday night at Stewart Field in Coshocton. The Tornadoes also ended a 19 game season winning streaking for the Redskins. "We've been playing great defense the last four games," commented Dover head coach Dan Ifft. "Our front kids have played outstanding. They worked hard in the off season, got stronger and they did a great job against Coshocton tonight." Dover quarterback David Rennicker accounted for more than half of the teams 300 total yards of offense. The 6-foot, 180 pound senior quarterback passed for 116 yards, one touchdown, and completed an impressive 11-of-14 attempts. He also rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown. Luke Patrino was Rennicker's top target with four receptions, one of them going to a touchdown, and 54 yards. Patrino also added 60 yards on the ground while Ashley Smith rushed for 44 yards despite limited action in the second half due to an injured shoulder. Patrino gave the Tornadoes their first points as he caught a touchdown pass from nine yards out just before the end of the first quarter. The point after attempt was no good to give Dover a 6-0 lead. On Dover's next possession, Patrino broke lose for gains of 16 and 26 to set up a Bobby Diehl one yard touchdown plunge to give Dover a 12-0 lead. The two point conversion was pass was dropped. The Tornadoes had a chance to bury the Redskins before the half but a deflected Rennicker pass was intercepted inside Coshocton territory. The Redskins were driving for a score but John Kennedy came up with a huge fumble recovery. The Tornadoes quickly returned the favor on the three yard line to set up Coshocton's lone touchdown making the score 12-7 at the half. Dover got some breathing room in the third quarter as Patrino broke free for a seven yard touch down and added two points on an option pitch from Rennicker increasing the Tornadoes advantage to 20-7. The touchdown was setup by a perfect 18-yard screen pass from Rennicker to Patrino on a risky fourth-and-18 attempt. The Tornadoes final touchdown came with just 55 seconds remaining in the contest when Rennicker, trying to pick up a first down to run out the clock, broke threw the Coshocton line from 20 yards out.
