A strong effort by the underdog Wynford Royals wasn't enough as the Mohawk Warriors defeated Wynford at Wynford 25-22. Wynford was led by a strong passing attack. Quarterback Chris Brewer completed 13 of 17 aerials for 219 yards. Brewer threw touchdown passes to Adam Whitmyer and Trent Gerhart. Only one of his passes was intercepted. Mohawk stuck to the ground with fullback Chad Sowers carrying the ball 29 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns. The Warriors rushed for over 300 yards as a team. Mohawk used the wing-t and would occasionally use the shotgun with five wideouts. Mohawk is 2-0 under first-year head coach Eric Baker. Mt. Blanchard Riverdale is next up at home. Wynford is 1-1 and hosts Upper Sandusky next week. The Mad Hungarian |
